GdS: ‘A tug-of-war that benefits no one’ – Vlahovic’s stubbornness sees Milan hopes fade

AC Milan’s hopes of signing Dusan Vlahovic on advantageous terms are fading, as he seems willing to sit in the stands for a year.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Vlahovic and Juventus are connected only by a contract that expires in a year, which the Serbian intends to stick to. “I’m staying until the end,” he reportedly told the club, reiterating his intention to remain this summer.

Even though he’s become second choice for Igor Tudor, he risks becoming third choice once the club finally completes the permanent acquisition of Randal Kolo Muani. “You’re no longer part of the project,” is the message the club has sent him, even through his agent.

Digging his heels in

However, Vlahovic isn’t giving up, even at the cost of spending a season on the bench rather than on the pitch, definitively going against a fan base that embraced him like an idol three and a half years ago after he arrived from Fiorentina.

He is willing to risk losing his national team spot in the year of the World Cup. It really is ‘a tug-of-war that benefits no one’ and is stalling the Old Lady’s transfer window, forced to sell before investing. So much so that the club are slowly resigning itself to the idea of keeping him, cashing in on other players.

Massimiliano Allegri ‘continues to wink at him’, but so far Vlahovic has turned down Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, Saudi Arabia, and any other destination. No major offers have arrived, but the few he has received have been deemed below his level.

His intention is not to renew (the club have attempted to offer him a lower-priced extension), but the player doesn’t want to give up the €12m net he’ll earn in 2025-26, thanks to a rising contract agreed in January 2022 with the previous management.

For Milan, Vlahovic wouldn’t give up part of his salary, not even for Allegri. It’s out of the question that the Bianconeri could contribute to his salary to strengthen a direct competitor, just as they will not let him leave for pennies.

Without a suitable offer (no less than €20m, roughly the remaining cost of Dusan on the balance sheet), Juventus will keep him. The Bianconeri will have to make money in other ways: Miretti, Savona, Douglas Luiz, Nico Gonzalez and Kelly.

  1. Does he not care about his career or is it just about the money? Looks like the latter. I think avoid this guy….

    1. If you’re him and you’re making $12 million a year, then going to Milan and making $4 million, I don’t think it’s an easy decision lol

      1. Think about origi which has half of vlahovic wage, and stay comfy on the bench. That’s what Vlahovic does. We can only wait for him being free next season.

      2. Then he can do that, and I think Milan was offering more than 4 million a year. His career isn’t doing well. Does he want to revitalize his career or not??

        1. People make careers to earn money. If he is already earning without a career (at least now) he sees no fault in it. One year on the bench isn’t going to make him a bummer, that he also knows. Maybe he will sign for a low club for 4-5-6 million for ONE YEAR contract and play well to drive up his value to 10-12 mpy again in a couple of years. Can’t blame him. He is taking a calculated risk where he will most likely succeed (in earning money which is going to pit the food on the table than any glorious but low paying career).

        2. He can get an offer of probably 15 to 25 mil from saudi league, just like theo hernandez, or how his compatriot milinkovic savic ended up doing.

  2. sorry but does he himself know what he wants?!

    money? Saudi is better place
career? Milan can give you center stage under the coach who trusts you and at reasonable salary (6M is still 6M…)

pettiness? idk, super weird this guy… or Hojlund is just a farce and we are just stalling like Marseille with Benny to leverage a good fee, like 10-15M…

  3. Vlaho and Osimhen had the opportunity to become legends but threw it away. Weak characters never succeed in high levels.

          1. You have been playing imaginary football manager in the comments for the past 2 months. Somehow I am looking for attention and you’re doing what? 🤣🤣🤣

          2. I love that me talking about mercato and being right on the number of players and profiles we need is considered as football manager…

we are at 7 players right now…

          3. The number of ridiculous combinations you wrote in the comments is unbelievable. Sell 17 players, buy 9 and so on. I won’t go back to find it, you know it.

        1. Are you a human being that said that players going against the club that is paying them have no character and now can’t explain it?

        2. Because now you understand how stupid it was so the only way is to somehow try to discredit him. Man, you’re the loser named Inter-fan on a SempreMilan website.

    1. @Inter fan, Osimhen ‘threw away’ an opportunity to become a legend. How? If they don’t want you, go some other place you are wanted. Seems you forgot his club mocked him for missing a PK. If you don’t know, that was where the whole sh*t started from.

  4. All of you guys criticizing him do you know how painful it’s for a new coach to tell you that you aren’t part of his Team just because you got injury in your line of duty? It’s like telling a soldier who gave everything to defend his country he’s not needed anymore because he lost his both legs in the war front. So always think deeply before commenting against anyone

    1. Lmao that’s an absolutely epic exaggeration. what are you even smoking? Soldiers don’t get paid 12 million euros a season. LOL This platform…

      1. Goku, too complicated example for you. Your idea of someone being angry or hurt revolves around how much are they paid? What, rich people never get angry? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Start reading some books, it is time.

        1. You know what’s too complicated? You actually using your brain and not using chatgpt. Oh boohoo… he’s upset because he’s having an issue with his employer… like a million other people.

Someone like you is a cancer to this site.

          1. Yes, you can’t get it. You never will. Especially since Dusan Vlahovic is from Serbia. The club didn’t back him but backed Motta. 6 months later they changed their mind. He didn’t forgive them. It is really easy to understand for most people. You don’t have to try anymore. About Chatstupidity, you should use it, it is more intelligent than you, 100%.

          2. And trying to somehow repeat I ever used that isn’t going to work. I have already explained to you but you take 5-10 times to get something. It would blow up the server before using my language. You are too stupid to get that so you’ll keep trying. I also told you the other day. Stupid people annoy me but I can ignore them easily. You asked for it so you’ll get it. Now go call mommy to save you and ban me. Loser. You really remind me of this wannabe Milan youtuber from USA, Martin something. Same type of slow brain.

          3. Stop using ChatGPT to write up responses. It’s mighty sad. Your brain doesn’t function, therefore you need AI. You’re probably some young Zoomer who can’t even think on his own.

          4. Ok loser. That is your only response since you have no intelligence. I’ve just said this sad attempt will be repated and you proved it. That language model with 0 intelligence is brainiac for you.

        2. Can this w@nker be banned from this site? I cant read an article in peace because of the “forever virgin”

  5. He wants to get one over Juve and probably have revenge next season. You people can’t remember a month in the past but last summer Juventus brought Motta who sidelined Vlahovic and used him as a substitute. Wanted him out of the club. Guys from the balkans do not forget this, ever. Also, Juve paid him 4M extra compared to him leaving in June. So Milan didn’t want to sign him earlier anyway.

  6. Saw the Juve game vs bvb. He took a shot that skidded so wide it could have well hit the corner flag oooof 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  7. Dusan Vlahovic is a prima Donna. He reminds me of balotelli. He will never be happy and will always feel like someone is hurting him. He is not the right kind of personality.

  8. Sure is having another mental breakdown again because he was exposed for using ChatGPT. He has no intelligence and must use AI.

    1. Can you at least come up with something I didn’t write to you? 🤣 I was ignoring you for quite some time, but now you’ll get it 100%.

      1. Why do you have constant temper tantrums on here? And why do you post twenty times under an article often to yourself? Sad boy.

  9. Sad waste of a player if he isn’t going anywhere but also a complete mess up by Juve if they aren’t willing to let him go for less, in order to partially pay him off. They’ll end up paying 20M+ in wages and not getting any fee at all, for a player they don’t want.

  10. While I don’t agree with Dušan’s actions, as someone from Balkan, I completely understand. We have this stubbornness and when someone push us, we push back tenfold. It’s a matter of character. Juve can’t make him leave, just like we can’t make Origi leave.

  11. Thank god if true – I don’t know why we’re trying to help out Juventus with their Vlahovic problem in the first place – and “ Massimiliano Allegri ‘continues to wink at him’ – with what that’s what I want to know…

  12. Vlahovic has 12mil reasons to stay at Juve another year. You can question his sporting ambitions all you want but that kind of salary won’t ever come around again. He’d end up playing for 4-5mil and would have to play for 2.5-3 season just to make that money again.

Can’t blame him. Stay at Juve, drain their cash, limit their mercato because of it. No complaints here. We were OK offensively before him and we’ll be fine without him.

  13. It seems that he just cares about Money, no more, no less. As if he is going to loose Eur12 (net – in hand) for doing nothing.
Those in Juve management who negotiated his contract should be ashamed of this mess.
