Vranckx addresses lack of playing time and admits he is considering solution for future

By Oliver Fisher -

Aster Vranckx has described his season on loan at AC Milan so far as a ‘learning process’ and admitted he is in the dark somewhat regarding his future.

Vranckx arrived on a season-long loan from Wolfsburg with an option to buy but has played just 153 minutes for Milan this season, including a mix of good and bad performances. The summer is approaching fast and his loan deal will soon expire, with everything at the moment suggesting he won’t be bought.

However, while there are still plenty of games left on the schedule there is still a chance for the 20-year-old to prove his worth and perhaps force the management and Stefano Pioli to re-evaluate the hierarchies.

Vrancxk is currently on international duty with Belgium U21s for whom he is an immovable member of the midfield and he spoke to Belgian TV Sporza from their training camp, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

On his limited playing time: “I knew that this season would be above all a learning process. The competition is great and the move to the Italian league is not a given. Well, I will continue to work hard. I hope more minutes will arrive soon.”

On the future: “Am I thinking of solutions for next season? Sometimes, but we’ll see.”

On his training: “I often train extra to compensate for the lack of matches. Both with a personal trainer and with club assistants. Both on the pitch and in the gym.”

On Ibrahimovic: “Zlatan often talks to all the youngsters and constantly gives advice. He’s also the type who keeps everyone on their toes in the locker room. He tries to improve everyone around him.”

On his goals for the national team: “The European Championship is very important for me. And for all the members of our group, for that matter. We realise that there is no next opportunity. We have to do it now if we want to go to the Olympics.

“Our group feels great on the pitch. The mentality is also top-notch. Everyone wants to work and win, you can feel it even during matches in training. This is needed to go far in a tournament. We will win.”

On his mentality: “Did I aim high? If you aim lower, you have the wrong mentality. We have the qualities to become European champions.”

    1. I agree. He did slip vs Roma but young players make mistakes. And if we are now the “young club” we need to accept these things. He has potential imo, I just wish he played a bit more
