AC Milan, on the face of it, seem likely to make Kyle Walker’s loan move permanent in the summer, but the Englishman may have dispelled the rumours a little.
The past few weeks have been dominated by talk about Milan’s interest in making the right-back’s six-month loan permanent when given the opportunity, with reports even suggesting that discussions have already begun about the move.
However, it seems things may not be as clear as once imagined, with Walker himself speaking about his situation on his ‘You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker’ podcast, as relayed by the Manchester Evening News.
“After I said my goodbyes, Pep got up and spoke and said a really nice message to me, just saying thank you for everything. But, listen, it’s not over. I’m just on loan here.
“I’ve got to take that into consideration that I can go back. Obviously, both parties need to come to an agreement come the end of the season and…Listen, the chapter’s not fully closed, but we’ll see what happens.
“One thing with Pep is that if a player wants to explore a different avenue, he’s never stood in that player’s way.
“I think with him being a top player, playing for a top club and managing these top players, [he knows] people are going to have different desires or ambitions to go and do certain things with their career, and I just think for me, it just came at the right time. It came at the right time. It [Milan] was the right club.
“And I just felt, you know what, I need to go and try something different because I don’t want to live after football saying I wish I’d have just explored something different and come to a club like this. I think it was the right fit for me.”
Walker is, as reports suggest, set to be a big player in the future of the Rossoneri, with several managerial candidates considering him as one of the big three players to build around next season, with a rebuild planned.
To make his move permanent, the Diavolo would pay €5 million, as agreed in the January mercato.
We should just play Jimenez on Rb for the remainder of the season. He is gonna take over from Walker at some point anyways, so we might as well get him ready now
Jimenez is not really convincing in the back. Actually the few times he was in def position, he was close to terrible. Add that to his behavior issues, ready to explode after each tackle and get a deserved card… I’d keep trying him on the right wing.
I don’t understand why we would keep him at this point. With his red card behavior and this, he can’t be a starter in a serious Milan side. Backup? Sure, but not for the money he’ll be wanting. If we had this self respect thing in the past which lead to the exits of Hakan, Kessie, and Donnarumma, then we shouldn’t make an exception for this guy.
Also, if we get a decent Italian CB, then we could move Pavlovic over to rb as that’s his 2nd position (kinda tied for his first position as I’ve heard). He’s deceptively fast and gives his all. Him and Jimenez on that side could do well.
Pavlovic is not a RB.
Well outside back is what I meant. His second position is left back so he could learn to play on the right.
This management should just resign and never work woth football again. To sell kalulu gor pennies when he was really solid not just in the cb role but also as rb. He wasnt anything special in rb but solid, and that he could play cb also of needed made him more inportant.
Now this incompetent manager who wants to play attacking footbalö with 0 defence in italy plays 2 cb who both cant run. Thiaw and Gabbia are same players they dont fit together both have same characteristics. This idiot of manager dont understand that this is not Portugal were you can get away with this. In italy its too tactical, we see this time after time both our cbs get caught on their heels. This is were Pioli was an expert, the defence but he had 0 knowledge of attacking football. But Pioli knew you cannot play 2 cb who cant run and who like to press opponent high and get caught on their heels. This is why Pioli liked both kalulu and tomori thei bring the balance to the back. When the bigger stronger slow cb get caught on its heels and a ball drops behind then kalulu or tomori would be the one to prevent that. This is were we bleed, also we can’t play with 2 man mid especially with reijndeers who are not a natural midfielder. He is more like a offensive mid. So we rely on fofana to do all the work behind and that why opponents just get to our half in matter of seconds. There is no stability we need to drop the central offensive mid behind the striker get one real midfielder like bennacer was for us who can start up play but can collect balls on midfield then let fofana drop a little bit down play the kessie role he is perfect for. Then reijndeers can play his natural role of an more offensive midfielder help the mid but be the one to run in to the box this would create balance.
For what it is now its total kaos. If Cardinale want to bring the fans back into his corner and foremost get Milan back on track 1. He should sign back Tonali, if not possible then we need another solid mid maybe ricci can be the guy. 2. As a Swede i say this kick ibra the F out what the f does he even do there except playing his ego and think he knows what he does. He is an idiot and he will never ever never resign himself he will see Milan burn before he resigns and admits he is a failure he is too full of pride. 3. Bring back Maldini to be honest maybe he isn’t the best guy for the job but he still is the best guy for the job because he will never ever put his ego over Milan there is just too much history. 4. Dont sign low name manager this time bring someone who has a track record and knows what he does. Fonseca really who the f is guy and this other clown man bring me something beautiful after Pioli not this. Bring me conte, gasperini or Ancelotti someone who is an upgrade to Pioli someone who could build on what Pioli did and bring us to next level.
Sorry for the long text i been holding in my feelings a looong long time i have not yet really recovered from the banter era then we get few years good a few years then this. I just want to say f this team and never watch again but its the management so i say f them and i hope the ultras come across them in an alley and f them up.
If Cardinale does these simple things we will see milan back on top but for now how it is it is kaos
Lol, Walker looking at a club that won’t be in Europe next season and giving himself some outs. Smart man. We might now want to keep him anyway, as while he’s been better than Royal and does bring a ton of experience, he hasn’t exactly been the second coming of Cafu. Then if we we’re in rebuild mode it might not make sense to pay that kind of salary, and instead bring in some fresh blood. So many decisions to make this summer.
I don’t blame him for regrets on choosing Milan. Conceicao and him thought they’d be competing for trophies as they had beaten Inter and Real earlier this season and showed how tough they can be (sometimes).
If he goes, I’d like Milan to get someone like Bellanova as the RB but that’s not happening. If he stays, we can focus on other weaknesses in the team for 2 seasons.
Just like a commentator said 1-2 matches ago about him: “Milan simply cannot find a better RB for 5M€ which is the amount they’d need to pay for Walker.” And that is a fact.
