Watch: Daniel Maldini explains why it ‘felt weird’ to score with his head

By Isak Möller -

Daniel Maldini made his first league start for AC Milan yesterday, exactly 4500 days after Paolo made his last for the club. And the No.27 managed to get on the scoresheet with a great header, which many didn’t expect.

The Rossoneri finally got their revenge on Spezia after losing this fixture 2-0 last season. Maldini’s goal was crucial to get the ball rolling and indeed, it was a very special moment for him, the club and the fans.

Speaking to MilanTV after the game, which you can see in the video below (with subtitles), Maldini shared his thoughts on what was a very special day.

His thoughts…

“It’s indescribable, I still have to let it sink in. Fortunately, we won the game and took home the three points in what was a tough game.

On scoring his first goal…

“Well, I tried to imagine how it would arrive but not the actual play itself. Fortunately, it ended up this way.

On scoring with his head despite being a more technical player…

“It’s true, it felt weird to score with a header but the outcome was great. If a goal at San Siro is the next objective? Let’s hope so.
