Watch: Florenzi makes decisive block at 1-0 in Milan’s win over Lazio

By Isak Möller -

One of the key players for AC Milan last night was Alessandro Florenzi who, when the scoreline was still 1-0, made a crucial block on Lazio’s Gustav Isaksen after a solo run.

The Dane’s effort looked to be goal-bound but Florenzi arrived at the last second, sending it out to a corner instead. Given that the scoreline was just 1-0 at that stage, it was indeed a crucial block by the veteran.

The former Roma man came off the bench in the 70th minute and did very well in possession as well, earning a 6.5/10 in our player ratings. It remains to be seen if he will start against Borussia Dortmund or not.

    1. Florenzi hasn’t basically put a foot wrong this season but “fans” still hate him. Even if he blocked one “sure goal” per match and provided 2 assists each week people would still mock him.

The fact is that he has been one of the best players this season and should be a starter instead of Calabria.

  1. With all due to respect to Calabria, Florenzi is a much more experienced player. He should be our starter. I is more solid in the defensive phase and contributes more in attack. Unfortunately Calabria struggles a lot defensively and does not add much in the attacking phase.

    1. Calabria was the best defending full back in Serie A for years in a row. People keep making up he is bad defensively 😂😂

        1. Here is just one from SempreMilan, but if you take 5 minutes you can easily check the full stats of any Serie A player in the last 5 season. Anyhow, I remember how he was bad against Son, Kvaratshkelia, and more. He was awful last year, right? https://sempremilan.com/stats-show-just-how-davide-calabria-has-become-one-of-the-best-full-backs-in-serie-a

Stop making things up, you can’t name 3 matches when he was bad defensively. If you can, do it…I’m waiting.

Of course, he also had a bad injury and he recovered and got back into the team. sempremilan(.)com/stats-show-just-how-davide-calabria-has-become-one-of-the-best-full-backs-in-serie-a

      1. Those days are over. Calabria, once a good defender, maybe because of injuries, is not the same. He has been our weakest defender last season and this one. All the dangerous attacks come from his side. Florenzi has earned the starting spot.

          1. Keep bringing up the games against Kava where he literally always had a second person helping him out to the inside, and still got beat to the outside on multiple occasions. Kava sailed one just over the crossbar and Magnian made a good save on another. Any fast player gives him huge problems. Every team (with the exception of Newcastle which is why we did so well against them) tries to attack our right side. He’s constantly getting caught out of position and unlike Theo, does not have the speed to make up for it. At least Florenzi is smart enough to position himself better.

        1. Also, I have mentioned a few players he had to face last season, how did he do against them? Which games? What are you talking about? You can’t name one.

  2. Literally any Inter game… Even the 1st game against Bologna this season, he was beaten several times. One off the crossbar, another saved by Maignan. I could go on and on.
