Watch: Florenzi scores Milan’s first goal under Fonseca from Daniel Maldini assist

By Oliver Fisher -

The honour of scoring the first goal under Paulo Fonseca – at least in the summer friendlies while waiting for competitive action – went to the rather surprise name of Alessandro Florenzi.

Given that the home side are just a few days away from starting their season properly they certainly had the better of the game overall and it took the Rossoneri some time to get going, though they did go ahead in the second half.

Ismael Bennacer fed a ball out to the left where Daniel Maldini – who had drifted wide from a striker role – clipped in a lovely cross and Florenzi was on hand to volley into the roof of the net with power and accuracy.

Demir would level late on to ensure that it would not be the winning goal, but Florenzi did well in a deeper midfield role overall and Milan were better in the second half.

    1. Finally I can agree with you on something. I’d say it would be really unfortunate to sell him especially for a price less than 10 millions. He is going to grow into a good player. Just look at this pass for Florenzi. He actually raised his head saw his teammates in the box and crossed the ball.
