Watch: Fofana arrives to complete AC Milan move – contract signing tomorrow

By Isak Möller -

Youssouf Fofana has arrived in Milan! The midfielder landed at Linate Airport earlier this evening and several journalists were present to capture the moment. Tomorrow, he will undergo the medical tests and sign the contract.

Fofana had been linked with Milan for quite some time before an agreement was finally reached with Monaco. Both clubs played hardball but in the end, a fair deal was signed as the Rossoneri will pay €20m plus an additional €5m in bonuses.

This evening, the midfielder landed at Linate Airport and as you would expect, many journalists were present including our correspondent Luca Maninetti. Fofana gave the thumbs up before getting in the car, taking him to the city centre.

Tomorrow, he will undergo the medical tests and sign the contract before watching Milan’s season opener against Torino at San Siro. It’s a packed day, in other words, and the fans will surely be excited to see him in the stands of the stadium.

  1. Negotiations took a while, but when they were done they got him here quick. Monaco blinked. I doubt we’ll ever do business with them again though. Welcome to Milan!

  2. Benvenuto grandissimo crack! Cuelli che vogliono solo al Milan e non vanno dove sono I soldi son sempre I piu forti. Forza Milan!

  3. Finally, he will gives us good options in the middield now. Lets get Tammy Abraham now 9f we can, and any lucky deals like Chiesa.

Thus far OK I would say, but good value Overall. Books need to be kept also healthy the way they are.

With our stadium and our second team now competing, we will get where we belong in the next 3-4 years, but this season we need the sexond star and within 4 finish in CL. That should be the objective.

Other teams will start feeling the pressure financially

    1. I think we really need to work on exits right now. Balo-Toure, one of Thiaw or Kalulu (looks more like Kalulu, though I’d rather Thiaw), and Origi before signing anyone else. Luckily we still got a little under 2 weeks left.

  4. Turtle guy who comments usually haha has doubts with my saelemakers praise and he’ll hate my next comment. What if jovic has a blinder of a season…. im hoping everything clicks. Could be like pioli winning the scudetto straight away… at the moment im more worried with morata over jovic and okafor performing as our striker. Moratas head might be in the wrong place for a bit of time with his break up.

    1. Why would I hate I the idea of jovic having a good season? I’ve been saying for half a year we need to extend him.

Morata is a pro. He came here to play, he was already on the fence for leaving last summer.

  5. Our midfield is kinda stacked now. Sell Pobega and Adli and bring in Samarzdic and our midfield is on par with Inter if not better.

      1. Samardzic to Atalanta is not a done deal. They literally just bought Brescianini. Only if/when Koopmeiners is sold will they move for Samardzic I believe…

    1. I would prefer Milan to buy or exchange koopmeiners with CDK then buying Samarzdic.

Koopmeiner is a very strong and physical player and can easily play in 3 man midfield, double pivot and also as an Attacking midfielder

    1. Which is commendable. Showed our financial power actually. We can spend because our balance is healthy enough.

But now we need to sell deadwoods. Origi, Ballo Toure, and 3 more foreign players.

      1. Who are these “foreign” players you keep speak of? Because none of the deadwood players are foreign. Kalulu and Adli are the next likely after the two you mention, and they’ve got French passports. I think one of Salad or Okafor is also on the bubble, but we might not see a sale there until January or next summer, when it will be evident which one is in Fonseca’s plans.

The only truly “foreign” (i.e. non-EU) players on the squad to my knowledge are Chukwueze, Pavlovic and Royal, and none of them are going anywhere this summer. Everyone else either has an EU passport or holds a passport that is treated as if it were an EU passport by the FIGC, such as English or Swiss, if I’m not mistaken.

So unless we’re trying to sign another non-EU player, this is irrelevant, and if we were we’d have to get rid of two players we just bought or one that we spent 28M on and still have high hopes for.

      2. And I think even the rule mandating the sale of non-EU players to bring non-EU players was scrapped, so that part of my statement is irrelevant. Just the limit on two incoming still stands.

    1. Top 5 serie A club, contender for the title, plays in UCL and he is pretty much guarantee to be a starter.
I don’t think it can get much better than that for a player.

      1. Yes, but he can get that elsewhere too and much more eg UCL contender such as Bayern or Real unlike us. So this is why I’m saying he really just wanted us and is simply maybe just a childhood fan of the club. Hey that’s works in my books. He’ll probably put real heart into it 🤗

        1. Don’t forget the “starter” part, in Bayern, City or Real he won’t be a starter.
Otherwise he can be a childhood fan. Mbappé is apparently also a childhood fan as well.
It’s also easy to assume that both Theo and Mike sold the Milan project very well.

    2. must be unbelievable for the complaining club that people want Milan and its not a garbage club because Maldini was sacked

  6. Welcome Fofana! It is fabulous that he stood firm and rejected West Ham and Manchester United in favor of AC Milan. That’s the right attitude we need!

  7. If we can bring in a decent deputy for Theo by the end of August we would have a 10/10 summer mercato. No we need to get rid of Adli, Bennacer, Kalulu or Thiaw, and Origi.

    1. Milan should add Adli to CDK get koopmeiners from Atlanta instead of buying Samarzdic

Koopmeiner is a very strong and physical player and can easily play in 3 man midfield, double pivot and also as an Attacking midfielder.

The likes of Origi, Ballo should be sold. Just hold on to Kalulu and give him chance to redeem his career with Milan and sell him for higher price.
