AC Milan loanee Santiago Gimenez made his debut for Porto on Friday evening and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions.
On Monday this week, Milan announced the departure of Gimenez to Porto on a season-long loan with an option to buy. If certain conditions are met, that option will turn into an obligation, and the value is set at around €18m.

Despite only training with his new club for a few days, the striker got to make his debut on Friday evening, coming off the bench against Moreirense. Porto had a 2-1 lead at the time and the striker came close to extending it on a couple of occasions.

First, he had a left-footed shot from distance which was nicely saved by the goalkeeper. Then, he burst into the penalty box before firing away a right-footed effort, but once again, the goalkeeper did well to keep it out.
Considering this was after playing just 15 minutes, the feeling is that Gimenez will be able to score more goals this season than he did at Milan (only time will tell, though!). The Rossoneroi are certainly watching on as they would like the option to turn into an obligation.

so he just didn’t want to score for us or something?!
Always want to see him excel in Milan, and I believe he’s got what it takes. Would be great to have him and Ramos as our striker option. But now, this a great chance to Camarda to proof himself.
Many people would have complained either way if we decided to go with Gimenez and lessen the Camarda’s chance.
Almost scoring goals is his specialty. Thus isn’t newsworthy. Let me know when he actually scores.
Hahaha I was going to say the exact same thing.
He will. Scored 8 goals (plus 2 assists) only from 11 appearances in UCL is not for everyone. All in all 18 mil is too low for his profile. You can’t even get Estupinan 2.0 with that amount nowadays.
Good news he is playing
They will buy him or he will get enough minutes to sell him elsewhere
Almost scored? Against whom? The bottom of the league. He plays in the top team in a league where there is really no competition. He better do well there or he’s coming back…
…”came close to scoring on a couple of occasions…” why does that sound familiar? 🤔 I actually do hope he manages to start scoring so he stays in Portugal…
Ramos made his debut and didn’t score, it turned into a frenzy that “Ramos failed to score”.
Gimenez made his debut and didn’t score, now the narrative changes to he “came close to scoring…”
How convenient.
What are you talking about? Those are two different things. Gimenez has been a dud for 18 months, that’s why he was offloaded.
Ramos was a sub with a decent record for the best team in the world.
