Lazio received three (!) red cards in the game against AC Milan last night and as highlighted on social media, they perhaps should have received another one. Elseid Hysaj certainly knew what he was doing in a challenge with Olivier Giroud.
It was a very heated clash between Lazio and Milan on Friday evening, fueled by the first red card which the Biancocelesti were furious about. Luca Pellegrini wanted to let the ball run out of play, but Christian Pulisic played on and the left-back was forced to a foul, getting his second yellow.
As highlighted on social media (see video below), Lazio could have had another red card for a nasty elbow on Giroud. Hysaj, who came off the bench, was the culprit this time out and he certainly knew what he was doing. Given that it was intentional, the yellow card perhaps should have been a red instead.
It was probably borderline for VAR to intervene, but one could certainly argue that it was ‘serious foul play’. And in light of what got Luka Jovic sent off against Monza, it’s rather strange that Marco Di Bello wasn’t called over the the VAR screen for a look on the matter.
Of course they should have. Their players engaged in violent conduct towards us. And were the unsportsmanlike.
