Watch: Leao hands Milan the lead against Verona

Rafael Leao got Milan off to a perfect start after the delayed kick-off against Verona on Saturday afternoon. 

The Portuguese forward was played through on goal thanks to Olivier Giroud winning the ball and he showed his incredible pace to leave two defenders in the dust.

He then slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 to Milan, who were wearing their third kit for the first time this season.

  4. Its been a controlled game once again but it seems our only chances occur when there is a turn over and break.

    Our build up doesn’t ever seem to produce an end product.

    1. Yes, the build up is almost non-existent. Reijnders is running around but I don’t see anything happening from that. Allegedly he should be a top player, I still can’t see that. He is not decisive or anything and against Verona he should be creating chances all around. But at least he tried. Apart from that they tried long balls which is just horrible against Verona.

  5. The match is boring. No game plan, we had a lucky break and this is just Verona. Pioli should go. We have a player that can play at left-back, just give him a chance. He can’t be ready while sitting on the bench. Kjaer should just be dropped at this point.

    2. Milan is not Spezia to develop kids when points are hanging in the air. He can get 10 minutes and that is more than ok for a 16 year old kid. If he does good maybe a cup match against a weaker opponent and so on. Playing him from minute one would be a move of a complete amateur. There isn’t a single club playing for the title that did that unless it was a talent like Messi, and not even than. He also did not play in the starting lineup until he was 18. Lionel Messi. But Bartesaghi should play. What?

      1. Wrong. Chelsea, Man City, Barcelona and Juventus have thrown youngsters into the starting XI. Pioli is a coward and this is why he’s gone at the end of the season.

        1. Name one. One player that played in the starting lineup at 16 while there was any other player fit for that positions. You are lying, but a stupid lie because I can disprove without even trying. Even Messi did not play in starting line-up at 16. He was 18 when he was given his first start.

        1. Is it that hard to understand? I mean it is like self-explanatory if your brain is working. But here it goes – If Messi, the greatest player ever and a well know supertalent at that time did not start in the first team at 16, do you think there is a reason for that or was Barcelona stupid? Ideas to start the kid from first minute is stupid. And I’m sure if he played and messed up a goal all of you would be really nice to him, just like you did with Thiaw.

        2. Also, same question like to this guy before. Which team is competing for the title and starting 16 year old kids? Name one. You aren’t serious people, this isn’t football manager.

  6. Can any noble soul explain to me why is Puoli playing Musah on the right? I think Musah would be phenomenal in the middle, and with his pace and physique he has a lot of potential.

    1. Because he played as right winger a lot for Valencia, so he knows how to play on that side. It isn’t a Piolis invention, he plays players where they already played.

    He did everything he needed to.
    Did so many interceptions and won countless ball.
    If he keeps his improvement, he looks like a combination of Dumfries and Kessie

    1. I think he is already better than RLC in what Milan need from those 2 midfield players. He will bench him soon, I’ve been saying it for some quite time.

  13. I don’t know what others see. But for me Milan played like a middle club.

    With the players we have, why can’t we played dominate Verona.

    Pioli time is over, he just have no more idea. The instruction is just counter counter and counter again.

    Really, I think Milan should offload Pioli. His time is over, and we thanks for the scudetto, and have made a world class player like Leao, and Theo. But it is time to say goodbye to Pioli.

    1. They’re not going to sack him now. He is trying to integrate the new players, he even gave minutes to Barteshagi. Besides, there are no outstanding candiates to replace him right now.

  15. Not often I agree with many of you ,but Musah down the middle ,I really think would work ..
    I think the reason it wasn’t the result I hoped for against Verona ,,,at least we won the game ,,too many changes to the team ,,but of course this was a necessity,,and poili had no options, and had to make changes ,,,this of course must be ,,,as we need the most important players to be available for the biggest matches .
    We are doing rather well ,but I slight lapse in form,,mainly do to muscular injuries..
    If we win the next two matches ,then that would be brilliant….
    We will challenge for the scuddeto again this season .
