Watch: Milan loanee Maldini scores a cracking free-kick for Monza

By Isak Möller -

Daniel Maldini has managed to get on target once again, scoring an absolute screamer for Monza this afternoon against Cagliari. It’s his third goal since joining the club in January and AC Milan are watching on with a big smile.

After struggling at Empoli, Maldini decided to cut his loan short and joined fellow Rossoneri teammate Lorenzo Colombo. In hindsight, it was the best possible decision as Maldini has started his tenure with three goals and one assist in five games.

This afternoon, he opened the scoring against Cagliari with a screamer of a free-kick, with the effort hitting the bar before going in. You can take a look at the goal in the video below, and it will surely bring a smile to your face.

It remains to be seen what will happen in the summer, but Maldini is still owned by Milan and he could perhaps stay with the first team. Turning 23 in October, it could be the right season to test his wings with the Rossoneri, especially if a new manager were to arrive.

    1. Its also worth to mention that in those 5 matches he had been fielded up untill today he had only played 86 minutes and scored twice and assisted once, that isnt exactly 5 matches played. Add 63 minutes on top of that today and another goal bagged.

  1. There is a 6M buy back clause on a 5M buy = $1M net cost to develop him.
I’d ask Monza about extending the loan 1 more year on both him and Colombo.

    1. Monza doesn’t currently have an option to buy him in the contract but according to recent reports they would like to sign him permanently in the summer and if that were to happpen a buyback clause certainly should be included. I wouldnt even mind a bit higher buyback clause inserted like ten mil if that gives them a better insentive to play him as much as possible.

  2. why have to keeping Chuck & sell Malda/ Chaka i don’t understand. both can play rw/lw/ss not a 1 triky pony, both promising home-grown not overhype FM player like Chuck

    1. Chukwu had a career year last year. D Maldini was 3rd choice to Leao and Hauge. Chaka is not even starting for Palermo in a lower division.

      Patience.

    2. The exact issue with daniel maldini in ac milan was that he was mostly utilized as a left wing substitute and that he didn’t play much more than 450 minutes over the years and at monza he plays as a cam which is his natural position and the results of it is starting to show.

  3. Patience of course,
i mean why not using Malda/ Chaka as rotation of Leao, Puli & Ok4, loan out Chuk to adapt Serie A or sell to cut the lose just like CDK, Chuk like CDK (can be) good player but seem don’t match tactic & cost too big
