There was yet more evidence on display during Saturday’s win against Torino that Stefano Pioli is using inverted full-backs to add an extra attacking threat.

We explained the concept of inverted full-backs and how Pioli has used them previously during a recent feature, and it is no surprise to see the frequency that Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria push infield actually increase.

During the Torino win, we saw Theo in particular dart inside which drew men out of the Granata’s compact block – baiting them out as Pioli put it – while also freeing space for the two mezzali.
