Antonio Mirante will make his first-ever start for AC Milan in their game against Juventus on Sunday evening. The veteran goalkeeper has a few good memories from facing the Bianconeri.
One game in particular comes to mind: Roma’s 2-0 win against the Turin side in the 2018-19 season. Juventus dominated at the start, creating several really good chances but they couldn’t find a way past Mirante.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper, who was 35 at the time, saved two efforts that looked goal-bound (especially the curler from Paulo Dybala) and made an additional two good saves. After that, Roma were able to score two goals.
It’s worth noting that Alessandro Florenzi was the man who broke the deadlock with a lovely chip over the goalkeeper. You can take a look at the highlights from the game below.
im not holding my breath, best case scenario: juve will be pushed and mirante wont be challenged all that much in the game
4 years ago he was in his mid 30s and he was the 1st goalkeeper with consistent minutes. He is 40 now and has one appearance as a substitute (5 minutes against Verona). Expectations should be moderated.
Thankfully his two CBs are in top form.
Yeah, and Fik didn’t take part in England vs Italy match, so its a good rest for him
