The refereeing performance of Daniele Chiffi has come under scrutiny after a big call that he made during the first half of AC Milan’s win against Udinese tonight.
Just before the half-hour mark, Chiffi made a very controversial decision as he sent Reijnders off for a last-man challenge. Quite how Lovric had got in behind remains questionable, yet there appeared to be minimal contact between the two before the midfielder threw himself to the ground.
The red card was brandished and it remained, but thankfully Milan would hold on for a valiant 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Samuel Chukwueze that came before the decision, and there was further late VAR drama with the away side seeing a goal chalked off in the 95th minute.
