Mike Maignan missed the first leg against Tottenham but was back between the sticks for the second leg in London. And that was very important for AC Milan, who were able to play out of the home side’s press.
Milan advanced to the quarter-finals thanks to a 1-0 win on aggregate against Tottenham, who barely threatened the Rossoneri over two legs. In the second leg, not even their press worked as Maignan was back in goal for the away side.
As shown in the video below, courtesy of Scout7Calcio, even when the Milan defenders were pressed to the limit, Maignan found a way out. This gave the Rossoneri a huge advantage throughout the whole game, and the defenders dared to play with a bit more risk.
