There was not a dry eye in the house as the AC Milan fans, players and staff got the chance to say goodbye to Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the game.
Milan ended the season on a positive note with a 3-1 win against Hellas Verona thanks to an Olivier Giroud penalty and a Rafael Leao brace, condemning their opponents to a relegation play-off against Spezia.
However, the evening belonged to Ibrahimovic and after the full-time whistle there was a ceremony to give everyone at San Siro the chance to pay tribute to an incredible servant for Milan. He also announced his retirement from football as a player.
😢 Forever adored. Forever one of us. Forever Milanista. Forever Zlatan. #GodByeZlatan ❤️️🖤

An emotional Sandro Tonali was spotted in tears during the ceremony and he reflected on what Ibrahimovic means to Milan in an interview after the game, admitting the team ‘weren’t ready’ to say goodbye just yet as he had only told them his decision on Saturday.
