Watford winger Deulofeu: “AC Milan is an option for my future, I was really happy”

Winger Gerard Deulofeu has revealed that returning to AC Milan always remains ‘an option’ because he was ‘really happy’ on loan at the club.

Deulofeu joined Milan from Everton in January of 2017 on a six-month loan deal making 18 appearances, scoring four goals and adding three assists.

It was reported that the Rossoneri would try to make his deal a permanent one but in the end Barcelona triggered their option to buy the player back, though he eventually ended up back out on loan at Watford who got relegated last season.

He seems to have been linked with a return to Milan every window since, and Tuttosport (via MilanLive) reported earlier this month that the agents of the 26-year-old Spaniard offered their client to Milan.

Deulofeu was interviewed on the ‘El Transitor’ program on Radio Onda Cero and talked about his future, once again sending a message to the Rossoneri management.

“Milan is an option for my future. I was really happy, I spent six wonderful months and my daughter was born there,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Going to Spain is also an option, as are other Premier clubs, but first of all we need an agreement to leave Watford.”

On his physical condition: “I am much better, I have improved little by little. I want to come back soon but with caution, there is no rush even if I miss playing to go elsewhere.”
