Ahead of Juventus’ trip to San Siro, Timothy Weah has spoken about which AC Milan player he wishes to play alongside, whilst also speaking about his father, who was a Rossoneri legend.

It seems that Weah is in line to play a different role this weekend. Due to Dusan Vlahovic’s injury, Thiago Motta has had to make some considerations about his squad, and the American is seemingly going to be chosen to lead the line. However, this is not something that scares him, and legacy suggests that he could, perhaps, be dangerous in the role.

Ahead of the game, Weah spoke to Il Giornale about the game, and his role, and his words have been relayed by Milan Press.

“I’m ready. I work for this, to always give my best. And the role [playing centrally] doesn’t scare me, I played centre forward many times in PSG, and then it was Emery who moved me outside, to exploit my speed.”

Your father is George Weah

“For me it’s dad, not George Weah. I know he’s a legend, although the last time he came to Turin, we went out and some fans asked me for a selfie and not him, they were young and didn’t recognise him. We talk to each other all the time, he watches all my games together with his mum.”

Expectations…

“Juventus always play to win and a draw, even against a strong team like Inter, is half a defeat.”

During the interview, the American was also asked about his Diavolo friends, given he has worked closely with a few players during his career already.

“Leao is a phenomenon, a very strong player. Let’s say that as a centre forward I should get away with it! Maignan is the best goalkeeper in Serie A, one of the best in the world. I worked well with Fonseca, I have good memories of him. I hope he has it of me. Pulisic is a champion, he has great quality and experience, it’s normal that he would do well. Our national team is very strong, we want to be the surprise of the World Cup and thanks to players like him we can be.”

However, he did not name any past teammates when asked who he would like to play alongside at the Bianconeri.

“Take one away from AC Milan? Just one? I’ll take away Tijjani Reijnders! For me he is an exceptional footballer, a real balancer for the whole team. I didn’t know him, I discovered him in Italy last year. He has foot, run, head, complete like few others.”

During the interview, the forward also addressed the ongoing racial problems that players suffer with in stadiums across Italy.

“Italian stadiums are worse. I remember well what happened to Maignan a year ago, but the episodes are also others, less known. Outside, I personally have never had negative experiences, but I am seen first and foremost as a footballer.”
