Massimiliano Allegri was understandably unhappy with the goal that AC Milan conceded during their loss against Napoli last night.
The game between Milan and Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona was a very tense affair, decided with just over 10 minutes remaining by a goal from Matteo Politano, someone who seems to love scoring against the Rossoneri.
It was a strange and avoidable goal to concede, as evidenced by Allegri’s immediate reaction. According to Il Giornale (via MilanNews) he immediately turned around to his staff and said: “How can you concede a goal like that?”
A costly switch-off
It was probably the only lapse in concentration from the Milan defence during the entire match, but unfortunately it proved decisive. Allegri knows better than anyone that big moments decide the biggest games, as he said after the game too while speaking to DAZN.
“It was a game with few chances, and one moment… whoever had taken advantage of it would have won. They did well on that occasion, and we were also playing with a tight defence.
“We had situations where we needed to be quicker to shoot on goal because then the others would arrive and stop you from shooting.”

The season is over for me. The corto muso stuff has gotten us a champions league spot and a toothless attack. I’m going to go eat some worms.
We need Modric to play higher up the pitch in an attacking role. Without his service, the forwards are serving. Leao should be sold.
Wait till next year….
The Forwards are starving …
We certainly aren’t guaranteed that UCL spot on current form and that’s surely something to watch and cheer for?
bench Nkunku & Fullkrug till end season, use Leao/ Pulisic & Gimenez, or Futuros/ Primavera,
atleast Leao/ Puli used to be good, Gimenez had injury excuse but Nkunku & Fulkrug watta waste of space, time & $
I’m a Pulisic fan, but understand why he didn’t start even though he was coming back into form and had an assist at least in the last start. He was coming back from international duty and Nkunku, who they spent a small fortune on, was seemingly fresh and this would be sort of opportunity for an underused player to get some time. All good. Well, until Nkunku gets on the pitch. Then you ask why wasn’t Pulisic out there to begin with? This was a BIG game.
Allegri knows how to get a talented team Champions League qualifications. But with his square peg/round hole insistence upon playing his stars out of position, he’s not going to take this team any farther.
Thanks Max. Hopefully we can hold onto a Champions League spot. Then you gotta go.
Not a single player was fielded out of position yesterday. Our forwards are simply a waste of money and/or in bad physical shape. RLC and Pavlovic have come the closest to forwards in the second half of the season which tell you a lot.
I bet everyone kept asking at the 46th minute: WTF wasn’t Pulisic subbed on for the Ghost?
I (kind of) get it too that Pulisic started on the bench but if Milan were in Napoli to win, he should have come one waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay sooner. Our attack wasn’t even toothless – it was absolutely non-existing. A shadow of a shadow.
Napoli played with a makeshift striker. Como plays with a false 9 in Paz sometimes, Real uses Mbappe who is not a natural striker and we battle to create chances…it is up to the coach to find solutions if we cannot even manage more than 1 shot on target with Gimenez, Fulkrug and Nkunku at our disposal. Could it be our system, formation, our style of play that is the Achilles heel or can we entirely pin it on poor strikers. The narrative is getting tired…maybe our wingers and midfielders need to chip in with goals as well…
Allegri’s (lack of) attacking tactics. He only wants to not concede in every match and that’s where his limits are. He can only think about the defense and even that failed yesterday and hence we lost.
You can’t win if you don’t score. Someone should tell that to Allegri.
1) Poor doubling (was it by Fofana) before the initial cross;
2) De Winter was probably the least one to blame, but he couldn’t head it properly;
3) Bartesaghi is once again completely unaware of his surroundings, the kid is talented, but he is actively costing us points lately.
Allegri has every right to be furious. We should have kept the 0-0. I don’t care that now Napoli have some small chance to catch Inter, it’s literally psychotic to prefer 1-0 than a clean sheet and better top 4 chances.
Has Bartesaghi been to blame for all losses this season? Maybe not in Cremonese but he has been A LOT involved in crucial goals… 🤔
From the top of my head, Fiorentina’s set piece goal, Como’s first goal in the away game, the penalties he gifted Genoa and Roma, the non-jumping against Parma and yesterday. What’s crazy is that all of these are game from the second part of the season, I’m having a hard time remembering him doing anything like that before them. He obviously felt the pressure to start every week and it shows.
Bart keeps making the same mistake over and over. This is now the third time that he has been unaware of the player behind him that resulted in a goal.
How is Bartesaghi supposed to react to a situation where De Winter has flicked the ball on from 5 yards away and Politano hits a volley first time?
Have you ever actually played a game of football?
Nobody was actually at fault. It was a mixture of misfortune (for De Winter) and a stunning volley (by Politano).
That’s it.
The bigger issue was the lack of goals scored but it is ok to lose to Napoli away.
How is this website still not recognizing you as a troll?
“How is Bartesaghi supposed to react to a situation where De Winter has flicked the ball on from 5 yards away and Politano hits a volley first time?

I have and still am. Been playing with senior level since 1995. Yes. Bartesaghi should know where the man he’s marking is. He had no clue where Politano was as he was just admiring the view and not playing football.
Have you ever played football? Do you know the defenders are supposed to defend? Well, scratch that. It’s all the players on the pitch who should try to NOT let the opposition score goals. Bart failed to do that. Like it or not. He wasn’t awake and focused.
Basic defending 101 – be aware of the opposition players behind you, especially the guy you’re supposed to be marking.

One thing I noticed in all the comments made here by everyone is that 80% of the comments lacked the understanding that even if you give Allegri the CR7 and Messi of this world he will still mess up with him selection and stubbornness
He can convert Messi to a centre defender and ask Tomori to play top striker because he wants to prove a point. Do you guys know that losing against Napoli is not our problem if we had won those matches we lost and drew to a lower clubs if he had listened from day one when everyone including our former stars told him that Leao is not a striker? Ask yourself this question first, HOW DID LEAO BECAME A POPULAR STAR IN MILAN? Answer is through left wing. So why converting to a centre forward?
Milan isn’t playing in champions league or Europa and we left early in the copa Italian cup so what’s the problem? Answer Allegri outdated style of coaching which is suitable for a seria C coach not a coach of Allegri standard.
Even Shevcenko told him also but his stubbornness has already done the damage. How many times did we score more than 4 goals in a competitive matches because of his garbage pattern of play and selection
Milan players have no problem yesterday but the selection. In football one thing everyone should understand and also know is that when an opponent sees who he’s going to mark he gets jittery so tell me which opposition in the right back that will not be jittery when Leao is in the left wing?!
