Gerry Cardinale was received by Pope Leo XIV in the past few days and he expressed a desire to co-operate with the Vatican.
Sportico (via MilanNews) reports how the RedBird and Milan owner participated in the ‘Dialogues’ organised at the Vatican, in collaboration with the Laudato Si’ Center for Advanced Training, Handshake Strategies, the University of Notre Dame, and Deloitte Switzerland.

The exclusive meeting was attended by approximately 80 guests, including sports executives, former professional athletes, Olympians, and representatives of the institutional world. The discussions with Pope Leo addressed a variety of topics, all considered important and central to the Church.
This includes AI, the relationship between technology and humanity, and above all sport. For the month of June, the Pope’s prayer intention is dedicated precisely to the values of sport, with the World Cup on.
“May those who play, train, or cheer discover in sport a universal language that brings cultures together, unites peoples, and sows respect, solidarity, and personal growth,” he told the delegation.
Gerry Cardinale had the opportunity to weigh in on the debate surrounding the power and influence of sport. He emphasised the Vatican’s openness to potential partnerships with the private sector.
“Sport, by definition, is a form of public-private partnership, which carries with it an implicit civic duty and responsibility to the communities in which it takes place,” he said.
“The Pope is a well-known sports fan and recognises the importance of values and cultural identity for the sports ecosystem. I am intrigued by a potential collaboration with the Vatican for RedBird’s sports teams and projects.”
Speaking of football, Cardinale made some big calls in the past 48 hours as he has appointed the new Milan management, which includes internal promotions rather than external hires.

Well I am a pretty godless person myself as I consider it superstition but that doesn’t exclude having morals or empathy for others and if I on a rare occasion visits a church I have no issues behaving respectful there but overall other peoples dogmas doesn’t concern me so blasphemy in my view is a given right but people can at least show some tact if they visits other peoples holy places. Ibra is a known catholic so I hardly doubt that he considers himself as godless regardless how incompetent he might be for Milan currently.

Well wasn’t his mother catholic and his father a muslim ? but sure he might not be a good Christian as he is a pompous character. You don’t have to share my political views and neither do I have to share your religious view either. But why should Religion dictate what non believers are allowed to say or think. Religion has a long history of oppression of both science and free thoughts or for that matter how people live. Just because people are religious doesn’t mean they have some moral high ground. I nevertheless think you can believe whatever you want to but don’t expect others to live by the same dogmas. A lot of culture spanning from music, movies, books or science would never have been allowed if religion was the deciding factor of what is ok and whats not and we would then be stuck in the past.
Either way I was not trying to offend you or anything but religion shouldn’t dictate those who aren’t religious, thats at least my 5 cents on the matter.

I’m not trying to pardon him in any way I think you are quite misunderstanding me. I pretty much hated Ibra before he ever joined us due to his persona and talking about himself in 3rd persona (who the hell does that) or for that matter playing for Inter certainly didn’t help either. He won me over as an AC Milan player but I pretty much detest his presence at the club currently so think you are reading into my short comment about him wrongly.
