GdS: A ‘broad agreement’ – what was discussed in meeting between Allegri, Tare and Furlani

There was yet another meeting of minds at Casa Milan on Thursday evening as the management plan for AC Milan’s future.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the summit between Massimiliano Allegri and the management was a new appointment to create an ‘increasingly solid foundation’ on which the Milan of the future will be built, in 2026-27 and beyond.

With a slight change of plans, it wasn’t the club’s top brass who visited Allegri at Milanello, but the coach himself who was welcomed to Casa Milan on Thursday. A three-hour meeting took place, from 16:00 to 19:00 CEST. Max left first, smiling but silent.

Collective harmony

It wasn’t the first meeting, but one of many in a long series that has become increasingly intense in recent times. After all, we’re in the key phase of future planning: the mercato (even if the meeting participants deny it was discussed) strategies and the end of the season were topics they delved into.

A return to the Champions League will hopefully be secured in the next four games, and this is the strongest pillar that Milan can have. Only with revenues from the highest levels of European competition will AC Milan be able to afford certain types of deals to strengthen the squad.

This is true in an economic sense but also a financial one: top players want to perform on the biggest stages. At the same time, Max demands that the new group be enriched by players with international experience and recognised personalities. Leon Goretzka, for example, is one of them.

The message filtering through is that on this, as on so many other points, there is a ‘broad agreement’. There are no conflicting internal factions, but a single, shared desire to structure Milan as competitively as possible.

Allegri has been the key to the club’s resurgence in the league and is rightfully demanding the right tools to climb the European rankings as well. The club knows it must accommodate him, even if budget limits are still being defined and everyone must adhere to the ownership’s guidelines.

The other rumour coming out of Casa Milan is that yesterday’s meeting discussed simple day-to-day management of the team, ahead of the upcoming crucial league fixtures. With six points to go until top four is locked in, the little details are crucial.

Meetings will continue in the coming days, and could become weekly, if not even more frequent. The most likely scenario at the moment is that Allegri, Igli Tare and Giorgio Furlani will pull the strings this summer again.
