Club history and European scene: Where Milan’s 20-game unbeaten run ranks

This weekend, AC Milan won their second game in only a few days, and as a result, their unbeaten run now sits at 20 games.

The win against Lecce takes us back to the first win of the season, which was also against Lecce. A 20-game streak, where Milan have certainly been flawed in places. However, they have continued to earn points without dropping a defeat.

While there have been low points of the run, like the draws against Pisa and Parma, for example, wins against Inter, Napoli and Roma could prove to be key at the end of the season.

The run compared

It has certainly been a mixed bag, but sitting second in the table, Massimiliano Allegri will not have too many complaints.

However, the Serie A table is not the only one where they sit second, as Transfermarkt reports, as seen below, the Rossoneri have the second-longest unbeaten streak in the league this season, sitting only behind Bayern Munich, who are 27 games without defeat.

In terms of the club’s history, Allegri’s side have the ninth-best record, but things can change quickly. Fabio Capello’s 1991-93 team recorded a 53-game run, but Stefano Pioli’s 27 sits second. So, Allegri could find his way up to second with another seven games.

Who knows how far this run can go?

    1. Yep.

Phenomenal achievement. And he couldn’t have done it without the players so maybe given them credit where credit is due.

Players with winning mentalities are not always the ones with the fancy footwork and the big transfer fees.

  1. The fact that the team has had nine different coaches with 20 game unbeaten streaks is also very impressive! But I agree with your point about Pioli.

Well, that’s AC Milan. Not the the Milan from last season.

  2. We know the players Pioli relied on to achieve this, yet some fans call them lazy, while some coaches came with zero tactical awareness and pick up a fight, we all know the end result
