Who are Bartocciono and Jimenez: the Primavera stars called up for Milan-Juve

By Isak Möller -

Due to several absences for the game against Juventus, AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has decided to call up two Primavera stars, namely Andrea Bartoccioni and Alex Jimenez. Who are they?

Mike Maignan and Marco Sportiello will both miss the game tonight, leaving just Antonio Mirante and Lapo Nava for the role between the sticks. Therefore, Pioli has decided to call up the Primavera star Andrea Bartoccioni.

The 19-year-old has been the starting goalkeeper for Ignazio Abate’s side this season and has impressed a lot. Last season, he didn’t really get the chance as Lapo Nava was the clear No.1, but the latter is now permanently with the first team.

It’s worth noting that Milan brought in the highly-rated goalkeeper Noah Raveyre for the Primavera this summer, but Bartoccioni has really made the starting spot his.

As for Alex Jimenez, he’s a full-back who can play on both sides of the defence (read our full profile here) and he has been called up due to Davide Bartesaghi’s ankle injury. He arrived from Real Madrid on an initial loan deal this summer and has impressed a lot.

Milan are expected to redeem the 18-year-old at the end of the season and if he keeps it up, he will soon play for the first team.
