QS: Why the chances of Conceicao staying at Milan continue to rise

For weeks now it has seemed that Sergio Conceicao’s fate is marked, but the chances of him staying at AC Milan are apparently increasing.

This morning’s edition of Quotidiano Sportivo (via PianetaMilan) has an interesting update regarding the future of Conceição. Virtually every major source have reported that he will leave at the end of the season, and our recent exclusive revealed that the club might not even have a say.

There have been a number of potential successors mentioned from Massimiliano Allegri to Vincenzo Italiano, Carlo Ancelotti to Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri to Roberto De Zerbi. Conceicao is aware of the rumours, and has hit out at them in the recent past.

Working through the noise

In the meantime, before the season ends and the final verdicts arrive, Conceicao is working with his head down with the aim of giving everything in the finale. Everything is centred around the dream of winning a second trophy in what will have been just five months in charge.

In the season of paradoxes, the newfound solidity with the 3-4-3 and the potential to obtain a Europa League spot by lifting the cup for the first time since 2004 could change the cards on the table. Geoffrey Moncada even hinted at it before Genoa-Milan.

“It’s not like that. We have faith in him. He brought the right mentality. He’s a worker, he works hard every day at Milanello with his staff. It has nothing to do with the Coppa Italia, it’s something else. We’re happy with him,” he said.

Conceição will have heard Moncada’s statements, but what will have boosted him more is that another comeback came on the field to earn a fourth win in five games. Now, his chances of staying at Milan for 2025-26 (and possibly beyond) are rising.

  1. They made a mistake by releasing Pioli afterwards we can seen that Milan made a step backwards.

And they made a mistake by not taking Conte when he was available.

    1. Pioli wanted to leave. at the tail end of last season, he had already given up on the team. You could see it in the way they played. The only reason why we ended the season in 2nd was because the other teams flopped hard.
Now that they are playing to their potential, you can see just how big of a gap there is between Milan and the other teams this year.

  2. Den stay away, atlist he has somehow steady d ship, atlist by wat we see now, give him another year to prove himself, who knows how long it will take another coach to adapt again,we don’t have dat time of waisting another year for experiment

  3. I think we need stability and it will help if Conceicao remains at the club for next year. Revolving door of managers isn’t something the club needs right now

  4. They couldn’t possibly be this stupid, could they?

I guess playing terribly, having no tactics, falling behind every match, then scrambling to make a desperate come from behind wins against bottom table teams is really impressive to some people.

  5. conceicao seems to have inspired the players in a good way but financial backing is risky ten hag ruined united season last year with financial backing
    but i trust sergio

  6. I think il Mister has to go
It is true that the latest results are in his favor but all in all our boys don’t play a ,,wow” football. Stability?
    Oh come on!
We need a serious overhaul on the pitch.
    Also in the management.
To much Moncada,Furlani,Zlatan-the half God- and the interests of their friend Jorge Mendes.

We want football, an Italian identity, a Milan DNA.
Jersey and logo kissing players, we have enough of that.
Next year they will kiss another logo on another jersey. Mental stability?
    No, money 💰 stability!!
If CARDINALE pays their wages…why should they make the effort to play ?
And Mendes will bring another bunch of average players to rise their value and gain profit

Remember Rino Gattuso’s words to the management:
    This Milan has NO SOUL
    It’s sad but TRUE 😞

    1. Italian identity and Milan DNA, maybe Milan can play half of Milan primavera.
They have the DNA and slim Milan wage budget for sure. Remember almost no European football for Milan next season.

  7. I wrote so many times regarding with Sergio consesao dtay at Milan beyond this year . I said he is best coach he should have stay at milan otherwise Milan could be back it again . Milan now so organized strong physically matured technically understand players knows What coach wants to do it . Sergio is better coach for Milan .

    1. What in the world are you talking about? DO you watch the matches. They look terrible. They fall behind in almost every single match. ANd we are not talking about top teams, this is against Genoa. If not for Maignan we would have been down 3 goals at the half. Defense is shambles and the offense can’t create anything unless they go all out attack/ desperation mode once they are behind.

  8. Well, I am not defending Conceicao. But, if he leave, then who is the ‘right’ coach???

    Hire again Allegri or Pioli???

If not Ancelloti or Klopp, or at least Gasperini, I think no one will be good coach for Milan next season.

I know there are Italiano, Fabregas, De Zerbi who will be great coach in the future. But, changing coach again next season, is not forward progress.

The example is Motta. We want gambling on ‘bright future’ coach like Juve did? We already gambling on Montella, Gatttuso, and others I forgot their names. And Milan still not waking up as one of european giants again.

If not top coaches like Ancelloti or Klopp that will come, than just stay with Conceicao still the better option.
