AC Milan are internally very discontent with the officiating during Saturday night’s game between Inter and Juventus, a report claims.
After beating Pisa on Friday night, Milan were hoping for a favour from Juventus on Saturday, and they were very close to getting one but for Piotr Zielinski’s last-minute winner. However, it was a game full of controversial decisions, all of which seemed to go in the Nerazzurri’s favour.

So, awaiting tomorrow night’s rescheduled match against Como, Inter are now eight points ahead of the Rossoneri. To keep their Scudetto dreams alive, Massimiliano Allegri’s team must beat Como, or the title race risks being over before the Milan derby.

In the last few hours, newspapers, TV, websites, and social media have been talking about nothing but Pierre Kalulu’s sending off , which undoubtedly influenced the outcome of the game given that it happened in the first half.
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) report this morning, ‘discontent is filtering through from AC Milan circles over the refereeing-led handling of such an important match – and one so crucial for all the other clubs involved’.

It’s no secret that Milan hoped for Inter to drop points, but the bitter feeling stems from the serious error from the referee La Penna. Instead of giving Bastoni a second yellow for simulation, he gave one to Kalulu for a non-existent foul, and VAR could not intervene.
The discontent at Milan also stems partly from Adrien Rabiot’s two yellow cards against Pisa. The first booking was given for a rather minor foul, while the second was for the subsequent protests, which weren’t as vehement as the ones seen in the Inter-Juventus match.
In short, without La Penna’s error, the standings might have been different, but instead the Rossoneri are still eight points behind (with a game in hand).

Actually im not that sad that inter won. Even if they lost, the title race would be inter favoured, but now, the margin between us and non european spots is getting bigger, so the main goal, ucl, is getting more and more real and comfortable achieving
True if we beat Como we’ll be 10 points over Juve in 5th place but still it’s insane how Inter are getting everything there way. Someone needs to investigate this cuz I remember in the derby Della madonnina Inter had 5 yellow card situations and then Leao got one cuz Barella dived. I think it would be hilarious if we after the Milano derby is just 2 points behind or even less with Inter clearly paying the refs

Should have ended a draw. Inter gets all these favorable decisions and would be ten points less without them. There needs to be a thorough investigation and possible point deduction.
Anyone waiting for Serie A to do anything about this is a fool. If the league wanted things to be different, they would be.
Since the start of the 2023-2024 season, looking at the top six teams, in that time period, Inter has the fewest red cards received, with 2. The next closest in Atalanta with 4 times as many at 8 (Milan leads with 15).
If you look back over the last ten seasons, the same disparity exists, not quite as dramatically, with Inter at 20 and Atalanta again at 28, or 40% more. For hardcore statisticians, the Inter average of 2per season vs 3+ for their peers is improbable as pure variance on playing style alone. Inter is also a full standard deviation below the average. All of this is statistically significant, and the league does not care.
The officiating in Serie A is a joke and for the sake of the league they really need to do something about it. They need to get the diving under control. They never card anyone for diving, in fact they reward it as seen in this Inter match. It’s starting to look like some South American league.
Between that and all the soft penalties they give it’s really losing credibility.
But what has happened that we haven’t already seen? Simulation takes place ALL the time. Theo was famous for milking it and I hated every time he did it. Remember our CL exit last season? Theo diving…
The problem is the refs reward players for falling down under the slightest touch, have been for decades… For crying out loud, women play tougher games than men these days…
The league is run by villagers. The refs are supervised by an incompetent clown who sends them to Serie B for a two week vacation without actually providing any clarity to make their decisions easier.
The question is, was Bastoni’s dive BLATANT enough and on a big enough stage to cause a change or not? Rocchi is and has been an absolute joke. But will there be enough pressure to get him to step down?
VAR rules need changes. Simulation should always be reviewable and punished. The penalty box needs to be much smaller because players just flip and flop in a big box hoping for a PK call. You go from a low Xg to like a .8 with a PK call. Which is fine if it’s earned but if it’s a slight touch in a situation where you had no business scoring?
Like I said, changes have been needed for a long long time coming. Question is, will the happen?
The FA needs to suspend this ref for a few matches at least. This level of brain dead mistake is not acceptable at the highest level
In reality, both Saturday games were reffed by officials better suited for a Sunday pickup game. I watch these games from a neutral perspective hoping to see good football. I thought Neyman had signed for Firenze with all the diving and rolling around going on. For Inter, yes there was contact but was it worthy of a foul? But I guess the ruby tackles on Hojlund we OK. No way can games be officiated like this otherwise we would see 12-15 yellow cards a game with 4-5 penalty kicks. Lets be clear, neutrals are not going to keep watching these poorly officiated games.
