There are two outcomes from tonight’s game for AC Milan, but they are not the only team who need to win the Coppa Italia.
The situation is rather clear for Milan. Win the Coppa Italia or have a very good chance of missing out on European football. This much has been known for months now, and it is not as a result of anyone else but themselves.

After all, there have been issues with consistency across the board, with each filtering into the other and widening the problem. As Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes though, they are not the only ones with a game to play.
The report states that this is an ‘open final’ where both teams have their qualities – Milan within their players and the Rossoblu in their team game. Yet, both share a similar desire to win tonight, given what is at stake.
For the Diavolo, it is a chance to save the season. For Bologna, it is a chance to gain protection, in the case that they do not earn a Champions League spot. Neither club really ‘wants’ Europa League, of course, the bar is higher. However, the feeling of that Coppa Italia would be beyond words for both, in meaning and value.

How the mighty have fallen…. The competition we never game a d*mn about is all of a sudden a must-win because that’s the only way we can get into Europe next season….
Winning it will make these managers yap about “winning”. So in that sense I almost hope Milan don’t win. But for the players and coach it is another win and a morale booster.
Conflicting.
