“They have no understanding” – Why AC Milan fans are right to protest over ticket prices

AC Milan fans protested about high ticket prices again during Sunday’s 0-0 draw against Juventus, making their thoughts clear.

It feels like there has been a constant battle between Milan supporters – more specifically the Curva Sud – and the American ownership regarding how much tickets for games should be set at.

Of course RedBird Capital will look to monetise games as much as possible, especially the biggest ones of the season like Juve and the derby. However, with football being very much a sport for everyone in Europe – including the working class – it is a tough balancing act.

Against Juventus, there was frustration with some tickets being priced at more than €100, something which the Curva Sud offered to ‘customers’ rather than fans of the club.

This led to the Curva displaying ‘€139’ with phone lights, plus the banner: “For a football that is more fair and for the people.” Oli and Bdair explain why they are right to fight for the working fan, but why the owners are unlikely to change things.
