CorSera: Why Milan are likely to entrust summer reboot to Tare and Allegri

Giorgio Furlani met with Igli Tare in Rome on Tuesday, and if he is to become the new sporting director then a coach would immediately become the No.1 candidate.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) reports that Tare is ‘close’ to taking on the role of sporting director of the Rossoneri and how, consequently, Massimiliano Allegri’s stock is rising as the new coach.

Yesterday, Milan’s CEO spoke with the former Lazio director. Tare was there for 15 seasons, from 2008 to 2023, with six trophies won in his tenure. It was a summit that served to examine various topics: choice of coach, transfer strategies and the current squad.

Tare had already met the owner Gerry Cardinale and his right-hand man Zlatan Ibrahimović one month ago in London. Yesterday it was Furlani’s turn, with whom Tare, until now, had only spoken to on the phone.

The meeting in the capital was positive, but not yet conclusive. Others will follow and the final green light will be up to the ownership. Tare’s profile fully meets the requirements that Milan are looking for because he has experience in Italy and he knows how to work as part of a group.

Compared to the other candidates he has a big advantage: he is not contracted to another club, so he could start working immediately. His arrival would also be welcomed favourably by the other managers already present because he has an ‘excellent’ relationship with Geoffrey Moncada.

There is a lot of work that awaits the next sporting director. On the coach issue, the names of Antonio Conte, Roberto De Zerbi and Vincenzo Italiano must be considered still in the running, but Allegri would be the favourite given Tare’s recent comments.

  1. Couldn’t have seen this coming in a million years 😉

Keeps Milan and Italian football firmly in its place with regards ambition and upsetting the apple cart in regards to the rest of Europe.

By the way how’s the new stadium coming along?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Can’t wait for next season 😦😧😩.

    #GETELLIOT / REDBIRD OUT.

  2. Management are to entrust tare and allegri because they still have no clue. It may steady the ship but there’s still no future with them. Go figure, the two people that were botttm of my list are going to be in control.

  3. Dang the media is trying really hard to push this allegri idea down the fans’ throats huh.

Look at last summer with so many names mentioned milan ended up with fonseca instead.

  4. It was always going to come down to Tare/Allegri, wasn’t it? The question then is why the Eff did they waste so much time on Paratici? Tare could have been working on the next season already.

  5. After feeling down this season. With allegri fans will be enthusiastic next season. Allegri will bring total football or tiki taka attacking football.
