Why Pioli has opted against a pre-match presser for Verona clash

By Isak Möller -

Stefano Pioli will not be speaking to the media this afternoon, having opted against the usual pre-match press conference at Milanello. Instead, AC Milan will have a training session before travelling to Verona.

Milan advanced to the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday evening, beating Slavia Praha 7-3 on aggregate, and they will be up against Roma next. In the meantime, though, Pioli is focused on the league and continuing the good form there.

As stated on Milan’s official website yesterday, there will be a training session this afternoon and the Rossoneri should then travel to Verona. Both Pioli and the media team felt that there was no need for another press conference, seeing as he had one on Wednesday.

Pioli also spoke to the media after the game against Slavia Praha, stating that: “We have to do well on Sunday in another difficult match against Verona”. The journalists will have to wait until after the game to ask the manager some questions, in other words.

With the international break scheduled for next week, it will be very important for Milan to clinch another win and thus keep the second spot in the standings for now. Juventus will play earlier tomorrow, so the pressure might be on the Rossoneri.
