Adrien Rabiot’s arrival in the summer window – after the addition of Luka Modric – has helped take AC Milan’s midfield to a new level.

Rabiot is Milan’s ‘crazy horse’ and Massimiliano Allegri’s right-hand man. With the Frenchman on the pitch, they haven’t lost in Serie A yet. Could it be a coincidence? As the number of games played grows, it seems less likely.
Worth his weight in gold
Rabiot joined Milan for just €7m from Marseille. That’s how much Milan’s most important paid-for signing of the summer cost (Luka Modric was a free), proving that in modern football it’s not just how much you invest that matters, but who you invest in.
With Rabiot on the pitch, Milan have not lost a game in the league. Their only defeat came in the Coppa Italia against Lazio, but in Serie A the Rossoneri are yet to be defeated. He and Modric appear a perfect pairing with their quality on the ball but also work rate off it, helping shield the back three.
Rabiot is excellent at managing and defending the ball in every area of the pitch. Athletically, he’s practically a robot, capable of running for 95 minutes, always with intensity but also intelligence in how he uses it.
Perhaps something is still missing in terms of goals, but that 30-yarder against Torino showed what he can do. Furthermore, it’s worth noting that the former Juventus man arrived in the final days of the transfer window for less than €10m.
Just imagine we brought Allegri and Rabiot already last year instead on Fonseca… We lost so much time trying non sense philosophy while we could have been much stronger this year. Also maybe Theo would have been a monster under Max, instead we lost him to Saudi…
At least management did learn the lesson for now and we’ll be back to UCL
Milan has only gained by not having Theo on the team. Hasn’t lost anything. Bartesaghi is shining in that role.
Milan was trying to sign Rabiot last season. He wanted to go to Marseille.
It’s because of Tare he joined with previous management they don’t try to hire him for 6m+ salary
Its because he got in a fight with one of his teammates at Marseille and refused the team demands to apologize, so they asked him to leave. He didn’t want to leave Marseille.
Also , it’s because of Allegri being at Milan, who he worked with at Juventus, not Tare.
As much as I liked Theo, I have to agree. No way Theo would fit into Allegri’s system.
I know, but I’m sure if Allegri was on the bench last year he would have chosen us over Marseille and would have cost 0 instead of 7Mil, it’s a steal anyways don’t get me wrong but we would have benefitted from him a year ago. As for Theo we will never know, his issue was mainly on a mental level, he used to be so good with us and I don’t have a short memory to say we are better off, Allegri knows how to manage big players with egos and mental ups and downs, seeing Leao defending I can only think that maybe Theo could have been different last year…
Complete agree about Theo. Wingback was ideal position for him. Great pity, players like him and Tiji are so so rare
True, but lets look to the future now. Allegri is doing well, but I think he does need a few more reinforcements. I think we are definitely a way better spot than we have been in years.
Allegri was on a hiatus and Rabiot wouldn’t have been bought since he was contracted to Marseille at the time.
The only reason we got him was because of the Rabiot-Rowe fight THIS past summer.
We would also not have gotten Modric last year since he was still contracted to Madrid.
The “What if this happened last year” is good and all, but some things were just meant to happen at specific times.
Crazy to think that Teo of Milan’s players cost a combined 7mil in Rabiot and Modric. While the two players for a combined almost 80mil flopped so far…

That’s because we bought 30/40 yo player with a twist. Not only that, other factors are modric is milan fans, and rabiot caught in a fight which he shouldn’t, also he likes our coach. Otherwise we will be sticked with 80 mil duo players. And banter era continues? Cmiiw.

Honestly, Rabiot is like the Kessie replacement that we’ve been waiting for for almost five seasons, but with aerial ability as well.
Rabiot is a mature established player. An absolute steal. I know the situation for him was difficult in his prior team (but it wasn’t really his fault). Yes, we did take advantage of that, but he’s here now and that’s what counts.
I haven’t read any comment on Rabiot’s mom for a while now. And how lazy he is. Lol.
