Tuttosport: Why Tare might not turn to Sarri – former Barcelona boss among alternatives

AC Milan and Igli Tare want Vincenzo Italiano to launch a new era, but there are other head coach candidates being evaluated too.

According to what is being reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan have finally resolved the sporting director issue. IIn the last few hours there has been a definitive acceleration for Tare, who was practically the only real candidate left on the list.

Yesterday, late in the evening, the confirmation arrived (still unofficial ) that the Albanian will become part of the management and will start in the next few days. Finally, the Rossoneri can start planning the next season, which will have to be the exact opposite of the one that is coming to an end.

The head coach issue

Tare’s first task will be to choose the new coach. No news has yet arrived regarding Sergio Conceiçao but his permanence at this point seems unlikely, given that results have not been what the current leadership wanted.

While there is a lot of talk about Maurizio Sarri, there was tension between the Italian and the Albanian at Lazio, with the report mentioning a ‘less than idyllic relationship’ between the pair.

Thus, we must watch out for alternative names such as Vincezo Italiano and Xavi. Italiano is a name that ‘could satisfy everyone’, while Xavi is an outlier in the identikit of wanting an Italian coach, but his work has been impressive enough for him to potentially be an exception.

  1. Almost every coach from coming in another league has been an absolute disaster.
Italiano? Could be another Motta – great at a smaller club, disaster at a big club with all the politics that come with it.
Go for Sarri or Conte. No horsing around or clever decisions this time.

    1. So that Conte will leave us in a year? He’s about to win the title with Napoli and he’s already making sounds about walking away. We need stability, not more crazy, even if he comes with certain guarantees. No point in finishing 9th, then top 4, then 9th again after Conte leaves and we have to find a fifth coach in three seasons. Conte’s moment with us was this season, and I think that ship has sailed.

  2. Oh great so another failure season..

When is our managment going to learn that serie a requires an experienced Italian coach to actually succeed.

  3. I would personally love to see Xavi in Milan as he was also one of my preferred choices last summer. Regardless of nationality and whoever we might appoint as a coach there is no bullet proof guarantees with any choices made but at least with the Spaniard I believe we could create a long term project incorporating youngsters and we would also have an entertaining style of play.
Overall I believe it would be greatly beneficial of restructuring the squad but I wouldn’t oppose Italian coaches like Italiano, De Zerbi or Gasperini either.

  4. And so we try again…another experiment…another let’s see season…what the team need is a credible established personality that can lay the foundation this season…and the only candidates for that would be Sarri or Allegri or Conte…everything else would be a maybe, possibly, might be would be and what else can be that we do not need right now. Unless the project is clearly spelled out that we need to sit back and expect a turnaround in 3 seasons time so we don’t have any expectations for the next 2 seasons.

  5. I would love to see Xavi at the helm. I wanted him last summer, since he was working miracles with a toothless Barcelona squad. He managed to go head-to-head with Real Madrid, while fielding a bunch of teenagers…

Xavi is also someone who can motivate star players, due to being a star himself, and his opinions hold a lot of weight in football overall. Management won’t be able to walk allover him, as we saw during his Barca days when he would always speak his mind regarding those above him.

He has a great footballing philosophy, amazing with young talents, and we can adapt some of the Le Massaia for our youth squads with Xavi bringing over his Spanish staff.

Milan and Serie A needs courage to evolve. We won’t find it in Italia, and certainly not a dinosaur like Sarri. Sorry, but I am not the least bit excited for any of the Italian options, except for maybe Conte on a short term basis.

Long term though, someone like Xavi would be very exciting. He can get the most out of our young players, and the established players grew up watching him being the greatest midfielder in the world – They will like up to follow Xavi 🔥

  6. Sergio Conseisao is best coach for milan he is my first choice . He shows us what will be Milan look like for the future if he stays at Milan next year 2025/26 . I trust him . My second choice is Xavi . He was best player & win laliga as a coach &young coach. No conte, no allegri , no italiano . If milan want to appoint world class coach my choice is Jergen Clopp. I have no word about him . He is my world best coach .

  7. My take is on the Ownership and SD. I believe Milan struggle isn’t on pitch much but on politics.
It is very hard to go into a strange land for business without engaging sons and daughters of that land in almost every department in the business.
Ac Milan need Italian on top managerial role before things work well, if not there will still be war from outsiders against Milan starting from the referee.
The politics in this game is what a lots of us can’t see.

  8. There’s no quality coaches left to pick up the mess at AC MILAN. Perhaps the owners put their money on the table and inject $$ for the club to succeed.
