One of the situations that Igli Tare and the AC Milan management must resolve is Theo Hernandez’s future, and there are some replacements in mind.
According to Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), Theo’s time at Milan – which began in the summer of 2019 – is coming to an end. The decision was made after the meeting that took place a few days ago at Casa Milan between the directors and his agent Manuel Garcia Quillon.

There is too much distance between what Milan are willing to offer and the demands of the left-back. Therefore, finding an agreement seems a truly impossible task.
No renewal = replacements sought
The paper goes on to explain that Milan have put forward a renewal proposal of €4m net per year which would actually be a pay cut given Theo currently earns €4.5m.
The former Real Madrid man and his entourage have asked for almost €8m per year in salary to extend the contract that expires in 2026. His poor performances accompanied by some behavioural issues that the management did not like lead to an inevitable sale.
Milan will therefore have to find a replacement for the 27-year-old. The three names on the radar are Destiny Udogie of Spurs, Junior Firpo who will leave Leeds on a free and Maxim De Cuyper of Club Brugge.
I’d take both Udogie and firpo. Have Udogie as a starter and get him going for CL in 2 seasons hopefully. As we will fight in 2 competitions Firpo wouls be a good backup

For Serie A as a backup he would be good enough. Pulisic was also terrible at Chelsea and now is our best player. So it would probably work out
why Firpo, Zappacosta is free… just get the guy without wasting money like we did with Emerson last year…
Udogie is 10-15M loss compared to Theo sale, while deCuyper is 5-10M profit… I think we all know what that means
In addition to being chronically underused his last two seasons at Chelsea (terrible?), Pulisic was also great at Chelsea – an undisputed Premier League top performer during the lockdown season. I do not know Firpo. Has he ever been great thus far?
Pulišić was never terrible at Chelsea, his stats were impressive considering reduced play time and injuries.
If Theo and his circus actually thought he was gonna get 8mil, they are on drugs. He’s been one of the weakest members of the team this year, and he wanted to double his wages??? Like buddy, whay have you done to even warrant your current pay? Probably about 15 of the goals at least thay we conceded this year we’re directly because you were too lazy to do you job. Two issues. First, he can’t do both at the same time. Second, he wants to play for Arsenal next season.
I have a hard time believing that 8m figure. Even with a great season behind him, they would know that 8m is not part of the milan payroll structure. So either that story is bs or they are passive aggressively asking to leave milan and putting it out there to other teams as a whistle so it limits the teams that would contact Theo knowing it will cost 7-8 mil a season. I think he would do really well at arsenal but they wouldn’t give him 8 mil maybe 6 or 7.
Finally some good news. With Conceicao out and now Theo leaving we have gotten rid of our two biggest problems. Things are looking better already.

Whats even more telling is that many top teams in Europe need a left back and somehow no one is interested in the best left back in the world, who is only 27, has 1 year left on his contract, and can be signed for 20-30 million.
Real Madrid, his ex employer, needs a left back. He even offered himself to them, and yet they would rather spend 50 m on Alvaro Carreras from Benfica.
ManCity is looking for a left back. Unlike Real Madrid, they did call Milan, but not for Theo. Instead, they would also rather spend 50 million on Rayat Ait Nouri from Wolverhampton.
Liverpool is also in need of a left back, and somehow, instead of going after the best left back in the world, they also want to spend 50 m on Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, ex Milan youth player.
Look like his market value dropped too drastically. Many rich club need LB but not theo. Liverpool even target kerkez ( player that fans think he is theo vice). Why didnt they extend the contract for like 4 years with 5-5.5 mil a year in january and sell him for 60 mil this summer, rather then give him a contract proposal that that is so bad that he cant possibly accept it, and sell him for, at best 40 mil, but probably we will end up getting just 20-30 mil for him now?

No, that was Maldini. He’s no longer with the club. We now get payed when our valuable players leave. It’s just that no big club wants to pay for this lazy, spoiled player with a bad attitude.
Why would he sign that contract anyway? When he can negotiate for himself as a free agent in 12 months. No way Milan have offered him lower terms, I don’t believe that story personally.

Theo asking for $8million per year of salary is a saving grace for AC Milan. No one will question Milan selling him and both sides save face. As for a replacement, Antonee Robinson from Fulham is physically stronger than Theo and gives 100% effort every game while not compromising on the defensive responsibilities. From day 1 he would be one of the top LBs in Seria A.

We have to do all we can to keep him.

How not to play defense. How not to pick up your man on crosses. How to dive any time a player come near you?

Theo haters will buy the 8 million wage demand story but Milan offering a lower salary is a made up media bs.
I think with a little effort there’s a good chance we can get him to sign on a reasonable salary. He’s still one of the best LBs in terms of offense imo, even last season. But his defensive abilities definitely dropped, and with Leao as LW this weakness is magnified. If Allegri decides to move Leao to CF, somewhat akin to Thuram’s role in Inter (which releases him from defensive duties which are his clear weaknesses), then that’s a different story
I would try a swap (maybe +€) between Theo and Maatsen (he doent seem to work out at Villa). On the right side I would look at Zappacosta on a free (only on a 2 season deal). Then for defensive midfield we should try to sign Sangaré or Goretzka.
I think either way you cut it, Theo’s time at Milan is done. His performances are just proof. No one in Europe wants him so he should go make that Saudi money while he can.
A lot of you guys are sick… After the new season kicks off, you guys are going to start crying about our left back. This club have shown from time to time that they can’t get a proper replacements for our outgoing players and you guys are here dreaming of the perfect signing…
I really hope Theo stays, but if he leaves, Miguel Gutierrez from Girona looks like a good replacement. Solid fullback who plays more on the wing and good with crosses, he offers a different style compared to Theo. Miguel and Bartesaghi should be our leftbacks moving forward
