AC Milan are a bit short up top, as this weekend’s game proved. So, the area needs to be looked at, indeed.
Rafael Leao, Santiago Gimenez, Christian Pulisic, and Christopher Nkunku are the extent of the Milan strike force. Of course, even this is potentially a bit questionable, given Leao and Pulisic are traditionally wingers.

In terms of actual strikers, there is only, really, one: Gimenez. So, it is reasonable to think that the Rossoneri still need to bring an extra body through the door and there are several ideas presenting themselves currently.
January or beyond?
The January mercato could provide an opportunity to add the final piece to the puzzle; alternatively, an extended wait could be chosen as the solution.
As PianetaMilan write, if the former were to be the decision, Dusan Vlahovic would be the primary target. He is playing less and less at Juventus, despite a bright opening. So, he could leave partway through the season for a nominal fee, considering his contract situation.
Alternatively, the Rossoneri could turn to Mauro Icardi again, a player whom they have been close to before.
In the summer, both could still be options, given their contractual situations. However, the preference may be for Robert Lewandowski, who could also arrive on a free contract. Alternatively, Nicolo Tresoldi of Club Brugge, or even Joaquin Panichelli of Strasbourg, could be elected as the future.
Is having a 5th striker necessary in this season though, yes i understand the injuries, but the amount of players we have was always the plan from the beginning of the market. If we change formation to have a front 3, then maybe i can see it make sense, but at this rate with 1 game a week our summer purchase of nkunku is going to be pointless.
Im obviously saying, if we make a purchase in winter btw, for next summer when we have champions league it makes much more sense and i completely agree
We have 1 striker in Gimenez the rest are either wingers/attacking midfielders even if Nkunko also can be considered a 2nd striker his main position is nevertheless also winger so we definitely can use another true striker this season as that is the area we are less equipped.
with our current formation, we got 2 spots. That would be Puli and Rafa. (Rafa btw has gotten very comfortable in the ST role, to my surprise). We could open up a position in the midfield, essentially having 2 attacking players in support of an ST. In that case, yes, we need a striker. BUT, I am not sure Allegri is that offensive. (he has proved me wrong this season though, we are playing more dynamic that i thought). In either case, i doubt allegri would break up the Modric – Rabiot – Fofana midfield, for a Modric-Rabiot and say a Puli.
Still doesn’t change the fact that all the players that we have in attacking positions except Gimenez is just fitted into positions that isn’t their preferred ones and where they actually excell the most.
When that is said Pulisic isn’t playing as a true striker either as he is basically playing as an offensive midfielder/2nd striker. I absolutely stand by my stance that we need another true striker in the vein of Vlahovic or Lewandowski even if I have my doubts that the club will muster up the necessary cash for either of them. Anyways this is not a critique of how the team performs but how we are left with 1 true striker in the entire squad.

I trust Santi for the rest of the season but with hopefully CL next year we need a reinforced squad not just up front but for now we got no problems with the current squad , maybe another CB since we play with 3
With Rafa back, unless we have an injury crisis (Like now) I doubt Santi will be starting many games. If everyone is healthy, it’s no doubt Rafa – Puli. If either one is injured, Nkunku is up next (on either role, he is good on both). And, Allegri has shown that on the support striker (the Puli position), he has preferred a RLC or even a Saladman out of position, than having Rafa in support of Santi. Being objective, Santi’s chances of playing consistently arent so great. It’s just how it looks at the moment.
The Nkunku deal looks no weird now. Maybe he should never have come here.

100%. I did not understand it when it was made, and still don’t. He might turn out being a much more expensive Okafor. IMHO, it was a panic buy near the end of the window because they weren’t finding the target man they wanted, so they just decided to go for a high profile “bargain”, but even at that “bargain” price is very expensive for us.
Didn’t make much sense that he arrived with the need being a target man. I think they needed someone to compete with Santi more than anything, when they had the funds, Camarda was sent away and Vlahovic wasn’t gonna happen. There was a hole, it just wasn’t Nkunku-shaped
Lewandowski is a no brainer- only his wages are an issue…
