World Cup final at risk for Theo Hernandez as France confirm knee issue

Theo Hernandez’s presence in Sunday’s World Cup final could well be in doubt as he did not train with the rest of the France squad today.

The left-back scored what was the winning goal of the semi-final against Morocco as he opened the scoring inside the opening few minutes of Les Bleus’ 2-0 victory, which booked France’s place in the final for the second straight World Cup.

However, MilanNews report that France have confirmed Theo Hernandez did not train with the rest of the team today and instead did individual work after suffering a blow to his knee, so he is therefore at risk for Sunday’s final against Argentina.

France are already in a difficult situation in preparing for the game as a number of players have contracted a virus that is threatening to sweep through more of the squad. Konate, Rabiot, Varane, Upamecano and Coman are all currently ill.
