Xhaka’s father confirms Milan’s interest and expects agreement ‘in the next few days’

AC Milan’s interest in signing Granit Xhaka has been confirmed by his father, who expected developments ‘in the next few days’.

There have been mixed signals regarding the Xhaka deal over the past 48 hours. With personal terms having been agreed as per Fabrizio Romano, news then emerged on Tuesday that there is still quite a distance between offer and demand.

Then, later in the evening, Sky claimed that Bayer Leverkusen are now open to letting the 32-year-old depart for a figure of €8-10m, which is exactly what Milan’s first offer was reported to be. Thus, there is a bit of confusion.

Xhaka’s father comments

Now, Xhaka’s dad Ragip has been interviewed by Teve 1 – a Kosovo-based broadcaster – and he spoke about the situation regarding his son’s future, confirming the Rossoneri’s attempts.

“We will wait a little longer. I cannot tell you anything concrete, but we expect results in the next few days. At the moment everything is open, I just hope we are lucky,” he said.

“May God bless us and bring us what he desires most. The truth is that Milan absolutely, absolutely wants him. As for the conditions, I will not talk about them. They are one thing, but the clubs will find an agreement. I believe in it.

“I can say that Igli Tare is a great sports director, I like him a lot, he is one of the best. It is an honour for Albanians that he is in his role, I can say that he has been successful. It is not the first time that I meet Milan.

“Milan wanted to sign Granit before, but it was destiny that we went to Arsenal and now to Leverkusen. As I told you, really, I will not tell you anything. You know that Granit was a key player for Bayer Leverkusen. And, as you said, he has a contract until 2028.”
