Sky Germany: Xhaka will only leave Bayer Leverkusen with ‘top offer’

Granit Xhaka has emerged as a potential target for AC Milan this summer, but a deal will not be easy, it seems.

Although he is not a box office name, Xhaka is the type of signing Milan need to make this mercato. Not flashy by any means. However, more than able to put in a shift where, and more importantly, when, he is required to.

So, the interest from the Rossoneri is understandable, without even considering his other qualities.

Not so simple

Xhaka has already admitted that he is open to a move away from Germany this summer, however, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has reported, via Buli News, that he will not push for a move, despite the interest from the Diavolo and Galatasaray.

In fact, it seems a deal will not happen unless a ‘top offer’ arrives at the door of the German giants, considering he has only been at the club for two seasons, with another three seasons left on his deal. Obviously, a top offer will not be near the €100 million mark, instead, it will be closer to around €20m.

A nice wage of around €2.5m per year also makes a deal worthwhile, with the midfielder not expected to seek a ridiculous deal.

  1. And how long is the contract offer from Milan? 1 year, 3, 5? If he was coming for free it would be easy, paying that money seems like a joke for a soon 33 year old.

  2. Leverkusen has been good over the years but considering that they have won 1 Bundesliga championship over the entire history of the club its stretching it a bit too far to call them giants.
Paying 18-20 for Xhaka would be bonkers even if he could be a short term solution I feel this might be another Biglia deal in the making.

    1. For a club that can only compete in local league this is generally fine. Inter di merda were also signing old if not cheap/free agent players. At least these are players which we dreamt of, few years ago ofc. We are Milan Passato! I’ve been told of. If we could sign berardi and rabiot that would be better at the right coach management.

      1. Still 18-20 million is too much for a soon to be 33 year old. I actually has no issues with him or for that matter Berardi but I certainly wouldn’t overpay for Xhaka. In the end we will see what happens but I’m not really convinced that the management will either.

  3. It is not happening then. Too much money for a 33-year-old. Rather get a much younger and lesser name who has the advantage of youth and potential on his side. Xhaka is just too old for 20m.
