Young but resolute: the encouraging data from Milan’s defensive quartet

AC Milan’s defensive resilience has been a big part of the recent successes in the hunt for the Scudetto and it was on show again during the win over Fiorentina.

As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it write, if the Rossoneri do go on and win the title this year it will be in large part thanks to the defensive quartet that have been part of a phenomenal start to 2022 during which only 8 goals have been conceded in the league.

Theo Hernandez, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Davide Calabria are a a starting four that have given several excellent performances this season individually and as a collective, helping to make Mike Maignan’s job easier (though he too has been magnificent).

In the last eight Serie A games played, the Diavolo have let in only one goal and that came against Lazio when Ciro Immobile got the opener, so even that ended in a win. Therefore 7 clean sheets were racked up in that spell and the average age of the defensive department is only 23 years of age.
