Zenga heaps praise on Maignan for Milan spell thus far: “It’s really a handful”

Mike Maignan was one of the key players for AC Milan last night as he made a very advanced save at the start of the second half. It proved to be decisive as the Rossoneri won the game by one goal to nil.

The Frenchman has impressed everyone with his performance this season, arriving to replace Gigio Donnarumma who left on a free transfer. Thus far, Milan can be very happy with their decision, also financially speaking as it was cheaper to sign Maignan than to renew Donnarumma.

After the game between Milan and Empoli last night, as cited SempreMilan.it, goalkeeping legend Walter Zenga spoke about the performances of Maignan. He admitted that he was surprised by the quality of the former Lille man.

“He made a great save on Luperto. He wasn’t only good in this save, but also had two good claims at the end of the game. In my view, he has really surprised, arriving in Italy to replace someone like Donnarumma is really a handful,” he stated.

Awaiting the results of Napoli (currently ahead against Verona) and Inter, Milan are five points clear at the top. At the very least, they will be two points ahead of their Scudetto rivals once the round is finished.
