A report has outlined Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s role and responsibilities when it comes to AC Milan, amid various reports about his influence.
Among Milan fans, commentators, and even insiders, there is a question that still hasn’t been clearly answered: what is Ibrahimovic’s role exactly? Today, La Verità (via MilanNews) have attempted to provide an answer.

Zlatan’s powers outlined
According to the newspaper, his contract with RedBird – where he is an Operating Partner – stipulates that the Swede will be a senior advisor to Milan’s ownership, as well as to the CEO and president.
Therefore, his advisory role extends not only to sporting matters, but also to commercial matters and special projects. Ibrahimovic doesn’t have the final say in the selection of the CEO, sporting director, or coach, but his opinion carries significant weight.
The agreement he has signed with Cardinale stipulates that his consulting work can also include player evaluations, talent recruitment, youth team management and squad motivation.
On the commercial side, however, the former striker is considered a sort of global brand ambassador, with a special focus on the United States, even against the major Hollywood film and television production companies.
RedBird will be able to have the Swede collaborate commercially with the fund’s partners in the sports, media, and entertainment sectors, thus creating the opportunity to develop the Swede’s brand in the American market. This is a first way in which Ibrahimovic could profit from the agreement with Cardinale.
Looking at the financial aspect, La Verità claim Ibrahimovic’s salary is €1m net per year for five years. To date, he has no shareholding in Milan, except through convertible warrants.
In practice, the Swede has no direct investments in the club right now, but ‘in the future he will be able to purchase $5m worth of AC Milan shares at the club’s acquisition price (the 2022 transfer from Elliott to RedBird for €1.2bn) and $10m at a price double the purchase price, so if the club were to reach a value of at least €2.4bn’.
This value can only be achieved through the construction of the club’s new stadium. In short, the more Milan’s value increases, the more Ibrahimovic will gain from the right to become a shareholder at a predefined price.
La Verità explains: “What does this mean? On the one hand, the Swede has every interest in increasing the club’s value. On the other, the failure to participate in the Champions League was disastrous news (at least financially) for the Malmo champion as well.”

I sure hope not!!! He has been an embarrassment in the US and that’s not going to change anytime soon. If people associate him to Milan and Milan’s management, we’ll be an even bigger joke that we already are. 🫣
