Zlatan Ibrahimovic reveals who he wants to win the World Cup: “For Messi”

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed who he wants to win the World Cup and it involves a former team-mate rather than a current one.

The World Cup is approaching the final stages now as the quarter-finals get underway tomorrow, with some mouth-watering clashes such as England against France and Portugal versus Morocco. One of them will see Argentina against the Netherlands, with Messi hoping to be a protagonist again.

Ibrahimovic would probably be expected to pick Portugal as the team he is rooting for to win it all given Rafael Leao is there, or of course France where Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud continue to shine.

However, the 41-year-old Swede stated that he wants Argentina to lift the trophy in just over a week because of Messi in particular.

“I hope Argentina win the World Cup for Messi,” he told 433 (via Sport).

As mentioned, they will have to get past Louis van Gaal’s side after having so far having beaten Mexico, Poland and then Australia in the last 16.
