The Renato Sanches saga continues to drag on but Paris Saint-Germain’s activity is giving AC Milan renewed hope, a report claims.
According to Calciomercato.com, PSG made an attempt to sign Seko Fofana from RC Lens that was unsuccessful but rather than turning to Sanches, the new head coach Christophe Galtier is asking for Kephren Thuram of OGC Nice to complete the midfield department after the arrival of Vitinha.
At the moment the Ligue 1 champions do not consider Sanches to be their firs choice and therefore negotiating a deal for him is far from a priority despite the rumours that the Portugal international is pushing for a move there to link back up with Galtier and director Luis Campos, whom he worked with at Lille.
The tentative interest from PSG has allowed Jorge Mendes to ask for more advantageous economic conditions for himself and his client in negotiations with Milan. The Rossoneri had an agreement in principle with Sanches at €3.2m net per season plus bonuses, but PSG’s mere approach raised the demands to €4.5m in view of this summer.
With his contract expiring in just one year and the relatively small expense required to purchase him from Lille, Mendes believes he can demand more from suitors. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are not willing to participate in an auction and they are still convinced that the waiting game could pay off.
To date the only offer Lille have received is from Milan and it is €10m with bonuses worth a potential extra €5m. There are no official approaches from Paris Saint-Germain, who to date are mainly focused on the Skriniar, the striker role (Ekitike or Scamacca) and Fofana or Thuram.
