As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) report this morning, after Sunday’s victory thanks to a goal from Pervis Estupinan, Milan will fight until the end. Or rather, they want to win as many games as possible, so they are ready for if Inter slip up and drop more points.
Leave no regrets
Massimiliano Allegri already expressed this concept to his team after the derby, and will reiterate it today at Milanello when training resumes ahead of Sunday’s away match at the Stadio Olimpico against Lazio.
A comeback is nearly impossible even with Sunday’s result, but the Livorno-born coach knows full well that anything can happen in football. Milan, first and foremost, must not watch Inter’s performance, but try to win all their games.
Only then will they have any chance of coming back, otherwise the only thing they’ll have left is the regret of not having capitalised on any missteps the Nerazzurri might continue to make in the final stretch.
Allegri hopes the derby effect will bring with it a lasting wave of enthusiasm that will cover up the shortcomings in this final rush. Milan must give their all, and then they can see how Cristian Chivu’s side do.
The focus for Milan, as the coach himself reiterated after Sunday’s match, must be solely on themselves and the work that needs to be done every day. Only then will the Diavolo have any chance of pulling off this nearly impossible comeback.
