Bianchin and Cardinale

Gerry Cardinale is keen on getting AC Milan a new stadium and in the last few weeks, he has accelerated the matter. In fact, the American is ready to become the first to win a certain challenge in Italy.

Milan have been working on the stadium project for several years, long before Cardinale entered the picture, but it’s safe to say that the RedBird man has taken the matter to a new level. From La Maura to Sesto, Milan are now well prepared.

Speaking to MilanNews, Gazzetta Dello Sport journalist and Milan correspondent Luca Bianchin shared his thoughts on the stadium pursuit. He stated that Cardinale is eager to do what no one has been able to pull off in Italy.

“It’s an equation with so many variables, the kind that drove you crazy at school: each area has so many variables to check that the deadline has moved a bit towards the end of the season. An initial decision had to be made in March on La Maura, but the problems seem to be more than the advantages. Something is needed to unblock the La Maura situation at a political level, otherwise, Milan will have to focus on something else.

“What is certain, however, is that Cardinale wants to do everything to win a challenge never won by anyone in Italy. No one has ever built a new stadium in Italy, at most only renovated or only rebuilt on the old stadium; no one has ever succeeded from scratch. Cardinale is the best person for the stadium matter,” he stated.

In addition to La Maura and Sesto, San Donato is also a concrete opportunity for Milan and you can read more about that area on our Substack (subscribe and read here).
