Di Marzio: Botman chooses Milan over Newcastle – change of owners should accelerate deal

AC Milan are hoping to accelerate the deal for Sven Botman when their takeover situation is resolved, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Sky journalist published an update on William Hill (via PianetaMilan) and spoke about some of Milan’s incoming and outgoing operations starting with Botman, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Rossoneri for months now.

He reports that Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have ‘long identified him as the perfect defender for the defence of the future’ and the Dutch centre-back has already given preference to the Rossoneri over Newcastle.

Botman – who has 3 goals and an assist this season – is the one that Milan have chosen to partner Fikayo Tomori long term and ‘work is now underway to find an economic agreement’ with Lille.

The probable change of ownership from Elliott Management to Investcorp ‘could speed up the operation’ as the Bahrain fund could make a statement signing to begin their new era.
