CM.it: Milan and Roma battling to sign teenage Benfica star on a free

AC Milan and Roma are competing for the signing of Benfica talent Luis Semedo who could arrive on a free transfer, a report claims.

Calciomercato.it report that Semedo is a well-known name to both of the Serie A clubs as he is one of those players who they have watched closely for some time, and now both Milan and Roma are ready to make their move.

Semedo, who turned 19 last August, is the ‘starlet’ of the Portuguese club and is coveted by many top European teams, including the Giallorossi and the Rossoneri. He is described in the report as being a ‘relentless goalscorer’ as Juventus found out, with the teenager bagging twice against them in the UEFA Youth League.

Benfica actually won the Youth League last season thanks to Semedo’s goals, and now he is already in the first team, but his contract expires at the end of this season and he is yet to agree terms over a new deal.

Benfica are trying and will keeping trying to get Semedo to renew so as not to lose him for a token development fee of less than €1m, but it won’t be easy considering the number of clubs intending to sign him. He has 9 goals in 14 appearances this season across various competitions.
