CM.it: Milan, Arsenal and Man Utd all chasing Portuguese teenager with €45m asking price

AC Milan are one of at least four clubs interested in signing Nuno Mendes from Sporting CP, but the asking price is very high.

According to Calciomercato.it, sporting director Frederic Massara is at work to bring some of the brightest young talent to Milan and the 18-year-old left-back Mendes is among the players that has caught his eye.

However – as well as the interest from Milan – Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are in the running to sign him, and the Portuguese side have even taken precautions by inserting a €45m release clause into the teenager’s contract which is valid until June 2025.

They have no intention of letting him go for any less than that figure too, so the operation immediately becomes decidedly complicated.

The situation must be kept under control because the player could of course force his hand and ask for an exit which may facilitate things, but for Milan spending so much on a player in a position that Theo Hernandez has already nailed down seems counter-intuitive.
