CM: Milan are struggling for balanced contributions in attack – the numbers show it

AC Milan must find some kind of balance in their goal contributions if they are to qualify for the Champions League, a report has outlined.

Calciomercato.com writes how in the last two outings against Spezia and Inter the Rossoneri were unable to score a single goal, relying almost exclusively on the inspiration of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who looked isolated for the most part in both games.  The Swede’s goalscoring record is not up for debate as he has 14 goals in 13 Serie A games so far this season, but the players behind him must show that relying on a 39-year-old.

With Leao and Rebic removed due to the fact they have also played games as centre-forward and have scored a total of 9 times, Milan have put together only five other goals from open play in the league. One came from Kessie (against Udinese), two from Saelemaekers (against Roma and Sassuolo), one from Brahim Diaz (at Crotone) and one from Castillejo (at Sampdoria).

Calhanoglu – excluding his penalty against Lazio – is still at zero, as well as Tonali, Bennacer and Meite. It is true that before the defeat against Juve, Milan had scored at least two goals for 17 games in a row, but now that the moment is difficult everyone’s help and contribution are needed.
