As Calciomercato.com writes, the Morocco international fired the Blues to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a decisive goal against Atletico Madrid, and he is beginning to repay the €38million the Premier League side paid to snatch him from Ajax.
His speciality is no doubt his assists as he racked up 82 in 165 appearances for the Dutch club, and he has now become increasingly fundamental player in Thomas Tuchel’s new system and style.
The report mentions how Ziyech was one step away from Roma as negotiations between the Giallorossi and the player’s entourage began in the summer of 2017, when the Moroccan was considered the main alternative to Mahrez of Leicester. He was also close to Roma a year later, but again nothing was done.
Milan tried to sign the now-27-year-old when Leonardo was a director, as he held in-depth contacts both with Ajax and with the agents of the player, but chose to bet on Paquetà from Flamengo instead.
