AC Milan are interested in signing Josip Ilicic from Atalanta and have made some enquiries, according to a report.
As Calciomercato.com writes, it seems as though the situation between head coach Gian Piero Gasperini and Ilicic is beyond repair. When asked in his press conference yesterday how Atalanta could become more clinical, he name checked Ilicic and only him.
“We are already the best attack, we score many goals. The attackers, starting with Ilicic, have to change gears. Malinovskyi is the most decisive, but if everyone manages to be prolific we will be able to reach the goal,” he said.
Ilicic was asked if he expected to play more, and he answered coldly: “I don’t want to talk about this. I want to finish the season well, then let’s see what happens.”
Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini are interested in the Slovenia international would like to repeat the operation completed by Sevilla for Papu Gomez, with an outlay of between €4m and €6m. Atalanta for their part do not seem willing to sell off the 33-year-old.
There have been initial exploratory surveys from Milan, to understand the conditions of the coup. Ilicic earns €1.8m net per season in Bergamo and is under contract until 2022. The situation is clear: Milan are watching on and taking note of the developments. Ilicic has 56 goals and 38 assists in 145 appearances for Atalanta.
