CM: Milan were offered chance to sign Dortmund trequartista – the club’s response

AC Milan were offered the chance to sign Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze in January, according to a report.

The Rossoneri have been linked with a move for Gotze in the media over the past couple of weeks, but Calciomercato.com (via MilanLive) are reporting that they have actually already had the chance to sign him.

Gotze was proposed to Milan during the most recent transfer window but it was considered too expensive an operation by the club’s hierarchy, as he currently earns a salary of €7.5m with the Bundesliga side.

The intention of his agents is to find their client a team that can guarantee him a salary at least similar to the current one, and with CEO Ivan Gazidis seemingly on a wage-cutting mission that is very unlikely.

The new Milan project may have a different idea about Gotze as  Elliott Management property has opened the door to a couple of luxury investments. If Ralf Rangnick arrives on the bench, it cannot be ruled out that he asks for the signing of his compatriot on a free, as his deal expires in June.
